A couple of days ago, Chris Evans sent the Captain America fans into a panic when he mentioned he might want to take a break from acting when his current Marvel Studios contract is up.
Now Evans clarifies what he means and also explains the situation behind his recent cameo in Thor 2.
The good news is that his cameo in Thor 2 didn’t count as one of his six movies; so that means Chris Evans will still have two more movies following The Avengers 2, which has begun filming and gets released May 2015 (the other three being: Captain America: The Winter Solider, The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger).
What Chris Evans actually meant by his comments was that he would like to do more directing while at the same time possibly sticking with Marvel.

Oh yeah, this was a big thing! I gotta watch what I say. I will absolutely clarify. I have a six-movie contract with Marvel and I absolutely plan on fulfilling them. This is without a doubt the biggest blessing in my life. Marvel has literally changed the game for me, and they make great movies. I did direct last year and it was a really fantastic experience, I really enjoyed it. So I’m certainly looking to do that a bit more, so when it comes to exploring other acting jobs I may not be as proactive in trying to find those, I may kind of stick with my Marvel universe in terms of getting in front of the camera, and then getting behind the camera outside of it.
The remaining two movies are more than likely Captain America 3, which is already greenlit, and probably a third Avengers film.
Captain America 2 hits April 4th.
