According to a new report, director Bryan Singer is cancelling all his promotions for X-Men: Days Of Future Past in the wake of the federal lawsuit filed against him by Michael Egan alleging Singer sexually assaulted him back in 1998-99.
Buzz Feed reports that sources have filled them in that Bryan Singer is dropping out of all press surrounding X-Men: Days Of Future Past for the foreseeable future.
Bryan Singer also recently cancelled a planned appearance at this weekendâs WonderCon for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, as well as the upcoming Creativity Conference in Washington where Singer was set to join Vice President Joe Biden.
Itâs also been reported that ABC has pulled promotions with Bryan Singerâs name attached for next weekâs premiere of The Black Box.
Earlier today also saw news that Bryan Singer might be the focus of a sex abuse documentary from Oscar-nominated film director Amy Berg who was behind the 2006 documentary Deliver Us From Evil about the sex abuse allegations in the Catholic Church. Berg has been working on the documentary for the past two years, reportedly with Egan, and itâs said she was surprised to hear that Michael Egan came out with the allegations and lawsuit now (via Daily Mail).
Today also saw possible news that Bryan Singer might have an alibi regarding Michael Eganâs allegations that Singer flew him to Hawaii and raped him, as itâs said Singer was in Toronto at the time.
Bryan Singerâs attorney has since made it known they are counter suing Michael Egan after Egan appeared at a press conference discussing the allegations.
Singerâs attorney released a statement (via Variety) that they plan to bring âa claim for malicious prosecution against Mr. Egan and his attorney after we prevail.â
âThe claims made today about Bryan Singer are completely fabricated,â Marty Singer, Bryan Singerâs lawyer, said. âIt is obvious that plaintiffâs attorney is not looking to litigate the case on the merits. This matter is nothing more than the attorney seeking to get his 15 minutes of fame by sending out a press release with his âmedia consultantâ yesterday following up with a press conference today. Attorneys who try cases donât hold press conferences.â
X-Men: Days Of Future Past has a May 23rd release with a reported $225 million budget.
