With the strike over, the cast of The Marvels is now allowed to promote the movie, so the first thing Brie Larson does is post an image of herself looking completely miserable as Captain Marvel.
Much like the fans who went and watched the movie last night.
Deadline is already reporting buzz and social media is down for The Marvels compared to other superhero flicks. This is Brie Larson’s way of creating excitement and hype?
Social media chatter way down
“The Marvels [social media] is tracking mixed leaning toward discontent, while debating issues of superhero fatigue and comparing this title to Marvel titles over the last decade stating, ‘We all miss The Avengers,’” states Social media analytics firm RelishMix via Deadline. “Added frustration comes from the need to watch several of the TV series to get up to speed on the movie.”
RelishMix also adds the “social media universe across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, and YouTube views stand at 599 million which is 14% under comps norms for superhero titles.”
Kids, families, women no-show
Another stat with the Thursday previews is it is learned families and kids didn’t come out to see the flick at all as they only made up 9% of the audience.
Women also didn’t come out, as 63% of the audience were men.
That says, much like this image, Brie Larson as Carol Danvers and Captain Marvel is unlikeable along with Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel who holds the title for the least-watched Marvel series on Disney+.
Wouldn’t you release something cooler to drum up support for the release of the flick? I’ll answer no because the movie is completely tanking and looking like it will be the worst-performing MCU movie at the box office of all time. I’d be miserable, too, as The Marvels simply isn’t good. A dead tree in the woods has more personality than Brie Larson in this flick.
“Can’t wait for you to see The Marvels this weekend! Get tickets now,” Larson posted. Yeah, sure.
Brie Larson is set to appear along with Tom Hiddleston tonight on NBC’s The Tonight Show so we’ll see how that goes.
