Fortnite’s latest Star Wars crossover landed with all the impact of a lightsaber set to “cosmetic only.” Despite the hype, player numbers barely budged, actually, they dropped.
Meanwhile, over in a galaxy that’s been around since 2017, Star Wars Battlefront II is enjoying a massive surge, hitting its all-time peak in players. Turns out gamers didn’t want Kylo Ren doing emotes or Darth Jar Jar, they wanted actual Star Wars gameplay, and they want more of it.

Fortnite player count at all-time low with Star Wars
It’s learned that Fortnite is currently at an all-time low regarding player count, which lines up with the recent release of the Star Wars event.
According to Fortnite.GG, which keeps track of player stats, Fortnite hit an all-time low with around a million players. The most recent stats reveal that the all-time peak seven months ago of over 14 million players is now down to around 1.1 million to 1.3 million.

To be fair, Star Wars doesn’t look to directly be the reason as Fortnite has been trending down since around December and started to see a dip in February. However, that means Star Wars did nothing to boost the player count. Up next is The Simpsons and more Marvel, will that make a difference?
Instead, Star Wars fans are rediscovering Star Wars Battlefront II.

Star Wars Battlefront II player count at all-time high
Via the Steam charts, Star Wars Battlefront II saw a huge spike in popularity recently. The game went from around 1500 concurrent players in April to over 18k in May and it’s currently strong around 17.5k.

It’s also said Star Wars Battlefront II has been trending on PlayStation.
Social media is also lit up with fans playing Star Wars Battlefront II all of whom want Star Wars Battlefront III. As of right now, there are no plans for Star Wars Battlefront III.
What the sudden resurgence of Battlefront 2 tells me is that people are HUNGRY for some good Star Wars games right now. People just want a fun, repayable, tightly made, Star Wars game that they can really enjoy. Especially now when the franchise feels like it's stuck right now. pic.twitter.com/bkTlGNcuct

The community wants it. The BF2 devs want it. Even the actors want it.
The numbers back it up.
