Avengers 4 Fan Theory Involves Ant-Man 2

Could the fate of the entire universe rest on the tiny shoulders of Ant-Man? Well, that’s what one fan theory suggests regarding The Avengers 4, which fits in with recent comments made by director Peyton Reed.

The fan theory has it that Doctor Strange knew about the events that happened in Ant-Man in the Wasp, which saw Scott Lang get stuck in the Quantum Realm.

If you recall, Doctor Strange used the Time Stone in Avengers: Infinity War to look for all the possibile solutions that would see the Avengers beat Thanos, and he only found one.

That one solution happened to feature Thanos winning and destroying half the universe and killing the Marvel super heroes.

The latest fan theory (via Reddit) argues against the thinking that Doctor Strange was waiting for Thor to create Stormbreaker and kill Thanos – because Strange already knew Thor would fail due to using the Time Stone – so what Doctor Strange was really waiting for, was Ant-Man to go into the Quantum Realm at the exact right moment where he would be trapped. This would cause Ant-Man to seek another escape route, which is a Time Vortex as mentioned by Janet Van Dyne.

So what this also means is that Doctor Strange was counting on the “Snap” and Thanos killing off half the universe, because when the “Snappening” occurred, as seen in the Ant-Man and the Wasp post-credit scene, Hank Pym, Hope and Janet Van Dyne turned to dust trapping Ant-Man in the Quantum Realm. If Ant-Man was never trapped, he would never find the Time Vortex and, assuming in The Avengers 4, travel back in time.

Ant-Man and the Wasp director Reed was asked about the possibility of the use of time travel and the Time Vortex in The Avengers 4.

“Based on the science that we’ve set up in the first movie and this one, I won’t rule out the possibility,” Reed said, “because, again, we are dealing with a Time Vortex. That could happen.”

Interestingly enough, a separate rumor on Reddit also offered that Ant-Man is going to be a big part of the MCU. Maybe it is indeed about The Avengers 4?

There are actually a batch of The Avengers 4 rumored spoilers that leaked online following Infinity War, which did mention time travel as well, and it’s even been said Avengers 4 starts off five years after the events of Infinity War!

The Avengers 4 set pics below also hint at time travel as they feature Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Rudd, and interestingly enough, Robert Downey Jr. wearing a SHIELD uniform with Loki, which looks to be set back during the first The Avengers movie.
