Aquaman Passes Half A Billion

Yesterday saw Aquaman pass the half-billion dollar mark at the box office, with it looking likely it will score over $100 million through its five-day Christmas debut, which includes the earlier previews.

Aquaman netted $67.4 million for its weekend premiere, and with Wednesday and Amazon previews, the number bumps to $72.1 million. Christmas Eve saw another $10.95 million, with Aquaman expected to pick up the remaining $16.95 million today.

The flick has now passed $500 million worldwide at the box office.

Update: Aquaman is now at $556,815,000 worldwide, with $105,715,000 in the U.S.

Further good news comes from Deadline who reports Aquaman, which cost around $200 million to make, will make a profit in its theatrical run.

The DCEU movie also takes the #1 spot overall for the December Christmas holiday as it makes more money than Bumblebee, Mary Poppins Returns, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Warners Domestic Distribution boss Jeff Goldstein released the following statement, “Fans love James Wan and Jason Momoa. There’s something special about Jason’s personality that comes across on screen, and James makes an excellent movie, and fans look at him as a marquee director in regards to his canon.”
