‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ Opens To $118 Million 4-Day Weekend

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ Opens To $118 Million 4-Day Weekend

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opens to a $118 million four-day weekend box office for the holiday which is pretty much in line with the estimates and a $104 million three-day weekend.

Disney estimated the flick to open to $105-$110 million, with industry estimates hoping as high as $120 million, so we see the number lands in between, so no complaints there.

The $104 million is also a much higher opening than the two previous films, as Ant-Man and the Wasp brought in $76 million for its opening 3-day weekend, and 2015’s Ant-Man brought in $57 million for its opening weekend.

What is disappointing is the Chinese box office as the flick only opened at $19.2 million, where Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the first Marvel movie to open there since Avengers: Endgame at the same time as the rest of the world.

The first Ant-Man made over $105 million in China with the second bringing in over $121 million (around 20% of the gross) so a lot looks to be left on the table for Ant-Man in the Middle Kingdom. While not a fair comparison, Avengers: Endgame brought in a massive $632.1 million in China.

So minus China, as of now Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is pretty much right in line with the international box office of Ant-Man and the Wasp (5% ahead) and 52% ahead of the first one.

Presently, the flick has a worldwide gross of $225.3 million, adding $121.3M internationally.
