Ant-Man 3 and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 are said to be filming next year, marking Marvel’s busiest year yet, which is also said to include the filming of Black Panther 2, in addition to the Disney Plus shows.
According to THR, Ant-Man 3 will film in sometime 2021 with director Peyton Reed, and then at the end of the year, James Gunn will film Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
Ant-Man 3 may involve Fantastic Four
Ant-Man 3 has no release date, but it may be released in 2022.
In addition to the return of Peyton Reed, expected back includes Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne aka the Wasp, with Jonathan Majors said to be playing Kang the Conqueror.
Rumors offer Ant-Man 3 may introduce the Young Avengers and/or the Fantastic Four.
Marvel insiders filled me in that a potential origin story for how the Fantastic Four will be introduced in the MCU takes a page from Captain America as the Fantastic Four will be shown as always existing and being a part of the MCU.
I was told that the Fantastic Four will be shown as existing in the past alongside Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Wasp, but that the FF get trapped in the Negative Zone, and when they come out, it’s the present day and they haven’t aged (where we see it is similar to how Scott Lang went through the Quantum Realm in The Avengers: Endgame, so perhaps the Quantum Realm and the Negative Zone are connected in the MCU).
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are heavy fan favorites to play the FF, but at the same time, they are rumored as Multiverse versions of Captain America and Black Widow in Doctor Strange 2.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 ready to go
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 also has no release date and James Gunn recently let it be known he will start on GOTG 3 when he finishes with his DC The Suicide Squad spinoff series for HBO Max, Peacemaker, which stars John Cena.
Gunn also said the script is finished, and details he revealed for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 a ways back include that it will be the last iteration of the team as we know them.
Chris Hemsworth is also said to be appearing as Thor (and Chris Pratt is said to be appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder).
The last we saw of the Guardians of the Galaxy was at the end of The Avengers: Endgame when the Guardians, along with Thor, went after the past version of Gamora who is now in the present day, so it’s likely Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will follow that storyline, with Thor: Love and Thunder also touching upon it.
