Following the huge success of the MCUâs No Way Home, Andrew Garfield just might return as Spider-Man.
The 41-year-old actor appeared on Happy Sad Confused with Josh Horowitz who asked Garfield about returning as Spider-Man.
Garfield, of course, didnât exactly confirm he would be back as Spidey, but it seems there definitely have been talks and even that Garfield has his own ideas for a return.
âYour assumption is not⊠unfoundedâ
When Horowitz mentioned how it wouldnât be surprising if Garfield had participated in discussions, Garfield deflected, saying, âYour assumption is not⊠unfounded.â He continued, âI can imagine going, âYeah, heâs probably had conversations too.’â
No Way Home a huge success
Garfield then acknowledged how Horowitz would expect there to be ongoing talks due to the overwhelming success of No Way Home.
âI understand in your position, youâre going to be wondering if⊠because it was such a success, right?â Garfield teased as he took on the role of Horowitz, ââKnowing Andrew⊠Andrewâs full of ideas, so heâs definitely expressed some of those.’â
Andrew Garfield plays coy about Spider-Man return
Despite the teasing, Garfield refused to give a direct answer when Horowitz, in his final attempt, asked whether he should âbet on ever seeing [Garfield] as Spider-Man again.â
âNo matter what I say, I could be held liable for that,â responded Garfield with a laugh, ultimately declining to comment.
Spider-Man 4 and Secret Wars are in the works
Marvel does have Spider-Man 4 in the works with Tom Holland. Various rumors offer itâs either going to be more grounded and street-level, while itâs also said Kevin Feige is contemplating whether to make it another large cosmic-scale movie. Of course, Avengers: Secret Wars is also happening which is said to be a huge multiversal Marvel movie which would enable a return for Garfield as Spidey.
Earlier in the interview with Horowitz, Garfield also talked about returning for No Way Home where he discussed how he would only return if they did it right and it made sense (he particularly made note of liking the âcatching MJâ scene). Itâs probably safe to say that the same logic will apply if and when Garfield returns, which is certainly a good thing as it means fans will get a story done right.
Marvel hasnât officially announced anything about Spider-Man 4. Tom Holland also said he will only return if it does justice to the character.
