Not a big surprise, but Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will end with its upcoming Season 7.
The series actually got a reprieve following Season 5, as the series was saved in part because of high international ratings and DVR viewings.
In addition, its Season 6 and Season 7 is only featuring half the usual episodes, so essentially Season 6 was cut in half.
Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb filled in Deadline the following about Season 6, which is now airing:
“When you know that’s what you’re doing, you can take greater risks, of life and death. Those kinds of decisions suddenly now are real on the table because you’re not playing how do we undo this when we get to the next season. You’re playing that this is going to be the end of the story.”
The news of Agents of SHIELD ending also follows Marvel TV’s Netflix shows ending, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and
While those shows have been canceled, Marvel TV is launching new shows on HULU, including Gabriel Luna returning in Marvel’s Ghost Rider.
Agents of SHIELD will also be present at a panel Thursday at Comic-Con.
