With the news that Wonder Woman 3 is dead, it’s learned that a new Superman Man of Steel 2 movie starring Henry Cavill almost happened with The Flash director Andy Muschietti.
In THR‘s report about Wonder Woman 3 not moving forward as the DC movies have hit a turning point, it’s suggested the new co-heads of the DCU, James Gunn and Peter Safran, may be rebooting the DCU.
According to the report, part of that reboot may involve shutting down Henry Cavill as Superman and Man of Steel 2.
It’s said Gunn and Safran look to be closing down the SnyderVerse and the actors cast as Snyder’s choice to play the Justice League characters, which would include Henry Cavill as Superman.
While Cavill has said he is back in the part, the report says at the time that the actor said that it was true and that Man of Steel 2 was in development, as it was previously reported a search for writers was underway with producer Charles Roven on board.

Andy Muschietti expressed interest in directing Man of Steel 2
It’s further said The Flash director Andy Muschietti expressed interest in directing Man of Steel 2 in a tone similar to the Richard Donner movies, as Henry Cavill said he is looking forward to a more joyful Superman.
However, all that was prior to Gunn and Safran taking over, where it is claimed Gunn and Safran want to do their own thing, which could even see the Henry Cavill Superman cameo removed from The Flash.
There’s more bad news as prior to Gunn and Safran, THR says the current leadership at Warner Bros. was considering a return to the SnyderVerse characters and even Justice League 2 with those characters.
Rumors now also offer Ben Affleck will be gone as Batman and that Jason Momoa is done as Aquaman, possibly with Momoa continuing on as part of Gunn and Safran’s new DC as Lobo.
