Henry Cavill has now been spotted filming Highlander in Scotland, with a new look revealing him in what appears to be Connor MacLeod’s past.
The images, via Scotland’s The Herald, show Cavill in period clothing, including a kilt, which suggests the reboot is shooting scenes set in the 1500s.
Scotland native Karen Gillan has also confirmed she is in Scotland filming Highlander, which further points to the production tackling Connor’s early life in the Highlands.

The new image offers the clearest look yet at Cavill in full costume as Connor MacLeod during what looks to be the character’s earlier years.
The period look lines up with the original 1986 movie, where Connor’s story began centuries in the past before shifting to the modern day.
With Cavill now filming in Scotland, it looks like Chad Stahelski’s reboot is staying true to that part of the mythology and showing MacLeod before he becomes the immortal warrior fans know.
Karen Gillan Likely Filming Heather Scenes
Karen Gillan is playing Heather, Connor MacLeod’s mortal wife and the love of his life.
In the original movie, Heather played a key role in showing the emotional cost of immortality, as Connor was forced to watch her grow old while he remained unchanged.
After being cast out by his clan in the 1986 film, Connor settled into a quiet life as a blacksmith and married Heather MacDonald.
With Gillan now in Scotland as filming gets underway, it seems likely the reboot is shooting those early Highland scenes involving Connor and Heather.
Dave Bautista Also in the Mix as Kurgan
Dave Bautista is playing Kurgan, Connor’s brutal immortal enemy.
That adds even more weight to the idea that the Scotland shoot could involve the early chapters of MacLeod’s story, potentially setting up the long conflict between the two characters.
If the production is filming scenes in the 1500s, it would make sense for the movie to establish Connor’s life in the Highlands, his relationship with Heather, and the beginnings of the threat posed by Kurgan.

Highlander is being directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski. The film has no release date as of yet.
Also starring is Russell Crowe as Ramirez, the role originally played by Sean Connery.
Djimon Hounsou also stars, with Jeremy Irons said to be the antagonist, the leader of The Watchers, which is straight out of the popular Adrian Paul Highlander: The Series that ran for six seasons with 119 episodes.
Marisa Abela is also said to be playing an immortal, said to be a new character created for the film, a leading role, an immortal who is a teacher of swordplay and one of MacLeod’s past loves.
WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre, also a Scottish native, is said to be playing Angus MacLeod, who in the original 1986 movie is the cousin of Conor MacLeod and who serves as the Clan Chief.
