Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie now had a pair of writers which follows Matt Shakman joining as director.
Fantastic Four will be written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer who aren’t known for much but have written the comedy Disaster Wedding which is now in pre-production.
Deadline adds the pair have been working on Fantastic Four with Marvel for some time prior to Shakman coming onboard and have been “outlining where this next series of films will fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.”
It’s said all three will now come together to align their vision for Fantastic Four before the script is written.
As the script is underway, it is also reported Shakman and Feige will begin to look at the casting.
Prior to the D23 Expo from a couple of weeks ago, there were all kinds of rumors about who would be cast as the members of Marvel’s first family with names mentioned including Jodie Comer, John Krasinski and more.
A recent rumor also offers different possibilities for who could play Reed Richards which just might include Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
However, D23 only saw Feige only announce Shakman as director which we already knew about.
It has since been reported that Shakman only joined the flick recently and that Feige wants Shakman’s input into the casting, so that is why there hasn’t been any casting news.
Matt Shakman is known for WandaVision.
Feige also hired a comedy writer for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Fantastic Four has a November 8, 2024 release date said to kick of MCU’s Phase 6 which is followed by Avengers: The Kang Dynasty on May 2, 2025 and Avengers: Secret Wars on November 7, 2025.
A recent rumor offers Ryan Gosling will be cast as Doctor Doom, so maybe that will happen in Fantastic Four.
