Wonder Woman 1984 A Disaster; Tanks On Rotten Tomatoes, Box Office, Reviews

Wonder Woman 1984 is now out in movie theaters and on the HBO Max streaming service, and it’s a complete disaster, which has seen its Rotten Tomatoes score and reviews plummet.

The first batch of reviews from the advanced press screenings saw the Wonder Woman 1984 Rotten Tomatoes score at a respectable 89%, but now that number has dropped within ten days to only 68% with 266 reviews accounted for.

If we take away those early positive advanced obvious-shill reviews, the Wonder Woman 1984 Rotten Tomatoes score should be even lower.

The first movie came in at a 93% positive amongst the critics.

Regarding the Wonder Woman 1984 Audience Score, it stands at 75%; the first WW movie has an 84% Audience Score.

Its box office isn’t doing much better, and while obviously, the closing of theaters due to the pandemic is a factor, if we take a look at China, where the closing of theaters is not a factor, Wonder Woman 1984 is performing horrendously compared to the first movie where it opened less than half of the estimates.

With WW84 getting an HBO Max streaming release, it was also hoped China would help make up for that at the box office as HBO Max isn’t yet available in foreign markets, but that is not going to happen.

Update: The RT score has dropped to 65% and “Certified Fresh” has been removed.

Wonder Woman 1984 is a big failure

No spoilers, but why Wonder Woman 1984 is a big failure is that it has a completely different tone than the first Zack Snyder-inspired Wonder Woman movie; the sequel is outright goofy, cringe-inducing, has lackluster villains and actors, takes swipes at men and Donald Trump, is boring, has bad special effects, and has zero epic scenes. What a disappointment.

Earlier also saw Wonder Woman 1984 trending on Twitter with – you guessed it – Birds of Prey.

#RIPWonderWoman.

It’s no wonder Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins don’t want to return for a third movie.

I also can’t wait to find out who takes the “fall” for the flick in the months ahead as it plays out in the Hollywood trades. Geoff Johns is my guess. It’s already started.
