Last month saw the shocking news that Disney decided to fire James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Marvel Studios over tweets that resurfaced from ten years ago making light of rape and pedophilia, and now following the cast, David Hasselhoff takes to social media to offer his support as well.
Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn blasted James Gunn in a statement at the time of Gunn’s firing: “The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”
Subsequent reports have stated that James Gunn will not be rehired for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and will never work at Disney again, and Drax actor Dave Bautista has recently come out offering that he is thinking of quitting as well.
Guardians of the Galaxy‘s 2 David Hasselhoff, who also has his own sordid past over dealings with drugs and alcohol, comes out in support of James Gunn on social media.
“Happy birthday James!” David Hasselhoff posted on Twitter, as yesterday marked James Gunn’s 52nd birthday. “You made a difference in my life and millions of others. I stand behind you. Your friend Zardu.”

Not only did James Gunn cast David Hasselhoff in a cameo role for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but Hasselhoff also co-wrote with Gunn the “Guardians Inferno” theme song and was featured in the music video.
