Aaron Pierre Joins Man of Tomorrow, Reprising John Stewart From Lanterns

Aaron Pierre is heading from Lanterns to the big screen.

Pierre has joined James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, where he will reprise his role as John Stewart, the Green Lantern hero he is already playing in HBO’s upcoming DC series Lanterns.

Man of Tomorrow cast, story details

David Corenswet is returning as Superman, with Nicholas Hoult also back as Lex Luthor.

The story has Superman and Lex teaming up against Brainiac, the technological alien threat. Lars Eidinger is playing Brainiac, one of Superman’s best-known villains.

Other returning cast members include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.

The sequel is also said to feature Isabela Merced back as Hawkgirl and María Gabriela de Faría returning as The Engineer.

Adding Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart to that lineup makes it clear Gunn is expanding the sequel well beyond a standard Superman follow-up. Gunn has also said Man of Tomorrow is as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie.

Production set for Atlanta

Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to begin production in April in Atlanta and continue into the summer.

That lines up with Gunn’s recent social media posts teasing pre-production, including his Daily Planet tech scout and his earlier confirmation that he was in Atlanta getting ready for the film.

Man of Tomorrow gets released on July 9, 2027.

Lanterns gets released in August.
