New Line-up For Guardians of the Galaxy 4 Hints James Gunn

This past Monday saw James Gunn announce he will be returning to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

However, it’s looking likely the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie may be the last time we see the Guardians as we know them in the MCU today.

Screen Rant caught up with James Gunn who let it be known that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 would be the last time featuring the current members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which includes Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Mantis and even Nebula and Yondu.

Screen Rant: I know you stated that you’ll be back for Guardians 3 obviously, and you said that’s the end. Does that mean that’s the end of the team past phase 4 or is it your end of the team?

James Gunn: It means it’s the end of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Yeah.

So there you have it. From the sounds of what Gunn has to say, whenever Guardians of the Galaxy 4 comes out, it will feature a different team of Guardians.

While that may be a bummer to some fans, the current Guardians of the Galaxy members could be featured in their own spinoff films (or die in the Infinity War films?).

Regarding what characters could appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 4, James Gunn might actually be creating the team with Guardians of the Galaxy 2, with possibly Sylvester Stallone and Michael Rosebaum’s characters (spoilers for Sly here and for Rosenbaum possibly here).

The comics are also known for having a couple of different teams and different characters as well. There is the original Guardians of the Galaxy from the 1969 comics, and the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy DnA comic that isnpired Gunn’s movie even had different teams and characters.

Guess we have a lot to look forward to!

Kevin Feige recently said James Gunn could be around for the haul, and Gunn said there will be ten years plus of MCU COSMIC movies.
