Miek Confirmed For Thor: Ragnarok

In addition to Korg, it’s confirmed Miek will be a part of Thor: Ragnarok.

Last October saw director Taika Waititi state an actor was playing “Miek,” but at the time it was unclear if it would be specific to the comic book version.

Marvel Studios recently showed off new Thor: Ragnarok footage to the LA press, and the good news is that Miek in Thor: Ragnarok is described to be insect-like and a part of the gladiator arena, but alas, not exactly like the comic book version as Miek (for some reason) doesn’t speak (via Screen Rant).

This other character here is Miek. He’s from the comics as well. He’s sort of like an insectoid. He sort of has a cool exoskeleton with knife hands. He’s basically sort of a larva shaped thing. He controls the exoskeleton with these controls and stuff. He’s way more graceful than Korg. Much more efficient and Miek does not talk.”

It is disapoointing that is seems Marvel isn’t doing more to adapt the Planet Hulk storyline, other than a few nods and the gladiator arena, as Planet Hulk is a heck of an awesome story, but Marvel Studios technically doesn’t have the rights to a solo Hulk movie, so I suppose we’ll have to be at least somewhat happy with what we get with Thor: Ragnarok. Still, it’s a bummer there will be no Red King vs Hulku (assumed) and the Spikes.

I was also hoping for an appearance by Beta Ray Bill in the arena, but the Hulk more or less appears to be taking that role, with Thor having taken the Hulk’s. Guess the Planet Hulk animated movie will have to do.
