Christian Bale recently had a funny moment with fans while signing autographs in New York City, after one supporter brought up Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
The interaction quickly turned into a lighthearted exchange that even caught Bale off guard.
Christian Bale Laughs At Fan’s Comment
While greeting fans and signing autographs, one fan praised Bale’s performance in the film despite its reputation among Marvel fans.
“Don’t care what people say. You did a great job,” the fan told Bale.
The comment surprised Bale, who immediately burst out laughing.
“What are they saying?!” Bale joked.
The fan then clarified the reason for the comment.
“It was the worst movie ever,” the fan replied. “For me it’s a good movie. Don’t tell. Do not let anyone know.”
Another fan nearby asked what movie they were talking about.
“Thor: Love and Thunder,” the fan responded, as Bale continued smiling.
The supporter doubled down on the compliment.
“You did a great job. I don’t care what anyone else says.”
Bale repeated the line while laughing.
“You did a great job. I don’t care what anyone else says,” Bale joked back.
Bale Played Gorr The God Butcher
Bale appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder as Gorr the God Butcher, one of Marvel’s darker comic book villains.
While Bale’s performance was widely praised, the movie itself drew mixed to negative reactions from fans and critics. Many felt the tone leaned too heavily into comedy.
Reports also claimed that several scenes featuring Bale’s character were cut from the final version of the movie, including moments showing Gorr killing additional gods across the universe.
Instead, director Taika Waititi leaned into a more comedic and over-the-top style for the film.
Thor 5 Expected To Be More Serious
Marvel is rumored to be developing a fifth Thor movie, but Taika Waititi is reportedly finished with the franchise.
Chris Hemsworth has also acknowledged that Love and Thunder may have gone too far with the humor. The actor suggested that if Thor returns in a new solo movie, the tone could shift back to something more serious.
Hemsworth is already confirmed to appear next in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release in December.
One fan remarks, “Don’t care what people say. You did a great job.”
The remark caught Bale off guard who burst out laughing, “What are they saying?!”
“It was the worst movie ever,” replied the fan. “For me it’s a good movie. Don’t tell. Do not let anyone know.”
Another fan questioned, “What movie?”
“Thor: Love and Thunder,” replied the fan, as Bale kept a big smile on his face.
“The fan told Bale, “You did a great job.”
Bale repeated the line laughing.
“You did a great job. I don’t care what anyone else says,” said Bale, laughing.
Christian Bale played the villain of the movie, Gorr the God Butcher, but the film was received poorly by Marvel fans. Reportedly a lot of Bale’s scenes were but that showed him killing off various characters.
Instead, director Taika Waititi opted for the goofier tone.
A Thor 5 is said to be in development, however, it will be without Waititi who is done with Marvel.
Chris Hemsworth also said they went too goofy with the film, and it sounds like if Thor 5 is made, it will be more serious.
Hemsworth also returns for Avengers: Doomsday in December.
