Prime Video has renewed Reacher for Season 5 before Season 4 has even premiered.
The announcement was made Monday, May 11, ahead of Amazon’s upfront presentation in New York City. Prime Video says the early renewal reflects the continued success of the Alan Ritchson-led action series, which has become one of the streamer’s biggest global franchises.
Season 4 is still on the way, with Ritchson returning as Jack Reacher.
Reacher Gets Early Season 5 Renewal
Reacher Season 5 is officially moving forward at Prime Video.
The renewal comes ahead of the Season 4 premiere, showing the streamer still has a lot of confidence in the franchise.
Prime Video says Reacher remains one of its most popular series, with previous seasons available exclusively on the service in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Season 3 Delivered Big Numbers
Prime Video says Reacher Season 3 reached 54.6 million viewers globally in its first 19 days.
That makes it the most-watched season on Prime Video since Fallout Season 1 over the same time period.
The number is another sign of how big Reacher has become for Prime Video, especially with Alan Ritchson now firmly established as the face of the franchise.
Alan Ritchson Returns For Season 4
Alan Ritchson will return as Jack Reacher in Season 4.
Prime Video says more details on the upcoming season will be announced later, but the new season is based on Gone Tomorrow, the 13th book in Lee Child’s bestselling series.
The story begins when a chance encounter with a distraught stranger on a subway goes horribly wrong. Reacher is then pulled into a deadly conspiracy involving ruthless enemies from the highest levels of power.
Reacher Season 4 Cast Adds New Names
Season 4 will feature several new cast members.
Joining the series are Chris Marquette, Sydelle Noel, AGNEZ MO, Anggun, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, Kevin Corrigan, and Kathleen Robertson.
Ritchson leads the series as Jack Reacher, the former military police investigator who keeps finding himself pulled into dangerous situations across the country.
Prime Video Calls Reacher A Powerhouse Franchise
Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said Reacher has grown into a major franchise for Prime Video.
“From Lee Child’s globally beloved novels to its standout on-screen adaptation, Reacher has evolved into a true powerhouse franchise,” Friedlander said. “The series’ ability to combine high-octane action with compelling character storytelling continues to resonate with tens of millions of viewers around the world. We’re excited to move forward with a fifth season ahead of Season Four’s debut and to build on this incredible momentum. Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid are the executives-in-charge of the series for Paramount Television Studios.
About Reacher
Reacher follows Jack Reacher, a former U.S. Army military police investigator who lives off the grid and travels from town to town.
Each season throws him into a new mystery, usually involving corruption, violence, and people who badly underestimate him.
With Season 5 now ordered, Prime Video is making it clear Reacher is not slowing down.
