Prime Video has confirmed The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 will premiere on November 11, 2026.
The announcement was made Monday during Amazon’s annual Upfront presentation in New York, where Prime Video revealed the next chapter of the fantasy series will jump forward several years from the events of Season 2.
Season 3 will take place during the War of the Elves and Sauron, with the Dark Lord moving closer to forging the One Ring.
The Rings of Power Season 3 Release Date Confirmed
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 premieres November 11, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
The first two seasons are currently available to stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
Prime Video says the series has attracted more than 185 million viewers worldwide and remains one of Amazon’s strongest drivers for new Prime membership sign-ups.

Season 3 Jumps Ahead Several Years
According to Prime Video, Season 3 jumps forward several years after the events of Season 2.
The new season is set at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as Sauron looks to craft the One Ring and gain the power needed to win the war.
Prime Video describes Season 3 as following the Dark Lord’s attempt to “bind all peoples to his will” and rule Middle-earth.
Sauron Moves Closer To The One Ring
The Rings of Power has been building toward one of the biggest moments in Tolkien lore: the creation of the One Ring.
Season 2 pushed Sauron further into the spotlight, and Season 3 looks to put the Second Age conflict front and center.
The War of the Elves and Sauron is a major piece of Middle-earth history, taking place thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
Amazon Touts Massive Viewership
Prime Video is also touting the show’s performance.
Amazon says The Rings of Power is one of the highest-performing and most-viewed titles ever on Prime Video. Season 1 remains the biggest TV series premiere in Prime Video history when ranked by viewers through its first 91 days, while Season 2 ranks among the Top 5 most-watched returning seasons on the platform.
Season 2 also debuted as the No. 1 original series on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 chart and stayed in the top four throughout its run.
Prime Video Says Momentum Has Grown
Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said the series remains a major global title for Prime Video.
“From the very beginning, this series has embodied the scale, ambition, and cinematic storytelling that define Prime Video’s biggest global series,” Friedlander said. “The extraordinary response from millions of fans around the world has made it clear that this journey through Middle-earth continues to resonate, and that momentum has only grown heading into Season Three.”
Who Is Behind The Rings Of Power Season 3
Season 3 is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay.
They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and executive producer-director Charlotte Brandstrom. Matthew Penry-Davey serves as producer, with Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee as co-producers.
The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
About The Rings Of Power
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set during the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
The series follows familiar and new characters as evil returns to Middle-earth, with major locations including the Misty Mountains, Lindon, Númenor, and other corners of Tolkien’s map.
Season 3 now moves the story closer to Sauron’s rise and the forging of the One Ring.
