RIP DCEU: Bendis On Board Justice League Movies

RIP DCEU: Bendis On Board Justice League Movies

DC Comics officially passed away on November 7th, and now it looks to be much of the same for the DC Cinematic Universe.

Yesterday saw DC Comics announce that Brian Michael Bendis has signed exclusive with them and will be writing their comics.

Now further bad news comes from a rumor stating Bendis will actually be involved with the DC movie universe and other DC media.

The rumor comes from Bleeding Cool who states a reason Bendis decided to leave Marvel Comics is because Marvel Comics has decided to go back to use of their original characters that sell–and get away from the PC diversity that has been killing their books and hurting their relationship with their audience.

Apparently, Bendis thought in Marvel Legacy that Miles Morales would be Spider-Man, but that didn’t happen. On top of that, VP of Sales David Gabriel finally ‘fessed up and told Bendis that diversity doesn’t sell.

So Bendis didn’t like that and bailed on Marvel, which also had to do with the fact that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige fired him and Ike Perlmutter’s Marvel Comics Creative Committee from being involved with the movies due to causing major interference and problems.

So over to DC Bendis goes:

Oh yes, and DC Comics has offered him a spot at their films/multi-media table, working alongside Geoff Johns, something denied him by Kevin Feige at Marvel.

I’ve been writing for literally six years about Bendis, and how I’m no fan of his work.

When Bendis was on the Marvel Comics Creative Committee he knew the Guardians of the Galaxy movie was getting made. The writers, artists, editors and creative team on the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy comic that inspired the Disney multi-billion dollar franchise were fired, and Bendis took over. Wow. What a classy guy.

I was also told by people who worked on the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy book and Marvel COSMIC at the time that Bendis was jealous of how popular Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning were getting with fans.

Now we see Bendis goes over to DC.

I guess it’s safe to assume that the Bendis PC diversity will now infect the DC Comics?

Good luck, DC.

Guess Affleck is leaving right in time.

Hopefully Bendis takes a lot of the garbage from Marvel with him, and Marvel can get back to being great again.
