It’s was learned earlier that Disney is reviving Ducktales, and now it’s learned Netflix has acquired the rights to Inspector Gadget and will be launching a new series.
USA Today also reports that Netflix will be launching new series for Danger Mouse, Some Assembly Required, Bottersnikes & Gumbles and SUPER 4.
“It’s one of those shows where we’re able to hit a few different audiences,” said Erik Barmack, VP of global independent content at Netflix, about Inspector Gadget. “We think that kids are going to love the show … but it’s also going to get some co-viewing because there is a generation of parents who grew up on the original.”
Inspector Gadget debuted back in 1983 lasting two seasons and aired in syndication in the 90s.
The new Inspector Gadget debuts in March.
