Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie is getting a first-time theatrical release next year courtesy of Kevin Smith.
Smith revealed the news on his Fatman Beyond podcast on YouTube, as Smith recently purchased his childhood movie theater in New Jersey.
“Who else did I reach out to? Zack Snyder,” Smith said. “I texted him and I was like, ‘Is this still you?’ And he goes, ‘This is still me.’ I said, ‘Hey, man, I bought a movie theater. Can you come do a screening?’ So I was like, ‘Want do you want to show?’ And he was like, ‘Well, there’s that one movie I made that has never been shown in the theater.’ I was like, ‘We’ll show every minute of it…’ So he’s coming to do it…”

Zack Snyder, James Gunn, Russo Brothers, more coming to Smodcastle Cinemas
Kevin Smith bought the Atlantic Moviehouse in Atlantic Highlands and renovated and transformed the 250-seat theater into Smodcastle Cinemas.
“LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! @leeloomultiprops, @odblues7 @jeffswanton5, @tzertuche17 & I assembled like @avengers and purchased the long-storied movie theater of my youth, @theatlanticmoviehouse!” Smith posted on Instagram. “And as of yesterday, we officially became @smodcastlecinemas! Located on First Avenue in scenic #atlantichighlands, Smodcastle Cinemas seeks to be the premiere palace for moviegoers in Monmouth County, New Jersey!”
Smith continued, “I figure if I buy a movie theater, they gotta let me play my movies and do my shows! So our inaugural event will see @ralphgarman joining me for the very first JERSEY BABBLE-ON – next SATURDAY on OCTOBER 8th! And then at 11pm, it’s a pre-Halloween screening of @tuskthemovie, followed by a Q&A! And #smodcastlecinemas is the only theater in the world where the @clerksmovie will *never* stop showing!”
Kevin Smith also said his Smodcastle Cinema will feature Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin and The Russo Brothers who directed the Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War movies for Marvel.
“Future events this year will include CLERKS: OPEN ALL NIGHT, during which we screen the #clerks trilogy all night long and then eat a catered breakfast from @quickstopgroceries in the morning! In November, the world renowned author of @houseofthedragonhbo & @gameofthrones, the great #georgerrmartin comes to Smodcastle to show off how damned charming & funny the guy responsible for an infamous #redwedding actually is!” Smith revealed. “And in December, the maestros of @marvelstudios we know as @therussobrothers may pop in for a gamey double feature & Q&A!
“And in 2023, #zacksnyder says he’ll bring a l’il (or a LOT) of justice to Smodcastle!” Smith announced.
Kevin Smith also said Jason Reitman who directed Ghostbusters 3 will be coming to the Smodcastle, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn, Supergirl actress Melissa Benoist, Chris Jericho, and more.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is the original vision Snyder intended the movie to be that was released on the HBO Max streaming service as a four-hour cut. I’ve actually been told Zack might not be done just yet with the DCEU.
