Henry Cavill Rumored For Marvel’s ‘Loki’ Season 2 As Hyperion

Henry Cavill Rumored For Marvel’s ‘Loki’ Season 2 As Hyperion

It’s claimed that Superman actor Henry Cavill has jumped ship to Marvel and will be starring in Loki Season 2 on Disney Plus.

The rumor claims that Henry Cavill will be playing none other than Hyperion, which is basically Marvel’s version of Superman.

What is particularly interesting is that the Hyperion Wiki page has been recently updated where it sounds like a fact and that it is a done deal (note: anyone can edit Wiki pages):

Hyperion will be portrayed by Henry Cavill in the second season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) television series Loki (2023).

Henry Cavill Marvel Hyperion Loki Season 2 rumors:

The origin of the Henry Cavill Loki Season 2 rumor looks to have originated from the Cinestealth Twitter account where it’s claimed, “A super huge actor *might* have been cast as a villain set to debut in Loki S2… and, if true, would break the internet (for several reasons beyond just hype).”

The account followed up the tweet with, “Yes, I was hinting at Henry Cavill as Hyperion.”

Additional tweets from the account also offer: “From what I gather, Loki S2 will introduce Squadron Supreme as a The Boys-style riff on the Justice League from another timeline. Arrogant, evil analogues for Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc… but they end up working for/with Kang as his muscle in Kang Dynasty. So not just ‘mcu Superman’ … EVIL mcu Superman!”

Redditors are also stating that Charles Murphy of the Murphy’s Multiverse website has retweeted the Henry Cavill Hyperion tweet which suggests the rumor may be true as Murphy is a known Marvel scooper.

Henry Cavill previously rumored for the Marvel Cinematic Universe

This isn’t the first time that Henry Cavill has been rumored to be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a while back saw the rumor that both Henry Cavill and Dwayne Johnson were in talks for Marvel, and worth a mention is that Johnson’s former wife and producer business partner manages Cavill.

It has been said Henry Cavill was up to play Captain Britain who said he is aware of the rumors, but since Kevin Feige basically gave the role to Captain Carter Hayley Atwell, maybe Cavill is going to play Hyperion?

In the comics, there are different versions of the character, but in relation to Kang, Hyperion is a member of The Squadron Sinister (Marvel’s evil version of the Justice League), where they are assembled by the Grandmaster to battle the champions of the time-traveling Kang the Conqueror, The Avengers.

What about Henry Cavill and Superman?

If Henry Cavill does jump ship to Marvel, that could mean his days as DC’s Superman are over.

I was actually told by DC insiders at Comic-Con that Henry Cavill could return as Superman if he wants to, but that he is asking for a lot of money.

If that is true, are we to believe that Marvel is offering Henry Cavill even more money to appear as Hyperion in a lower-budget Disney Plus series?

That seems like a stretch unless Cavill is signed on for more projects. Also, would Henry Cavill actually want to play another version of Superman instead of playing the Man of Steel again for DC?

It could be possible that maybe the above Twitter user is right and Loki Season 2 will feature more of a parody similar to Homelander and The Boys, and maybe it’s even a quick one-and-done appearance.
