It is reported that James Gunn will be conducting screen tests for his new Superman: Legacy DCU movie, with David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, and Tom Brittney up to play the titular character.
Both 29-year-old David Corenswet and 33-year-old Nicholas Hoult were previously rumored for the role of the Man of Steel, with it also said Hoult may be up to play Lex Luthor.
The 32-year-old Tom Brittney is a British actor known for UNreal and Granchester.
According to Deadline, following loads of audition tapes, James Gunn will move on to in-person tests happening Father’s Day weekend or the Monday and Tuesday after which will also include the ongoing search for the new Lois Lane.
Up to play Lois Lane is said to be 27-year-old Emma Mackey (Barbie, Sex Education), 32-year-old Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards, Manhattan, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), and 28-year-old Phoebe Dynevor (Brigerton).
Deadline also says the roles of the other characters, such as Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen, will likely get cast after decisions are made on Superman and Lois. THR also adds members of The Authority are going to be featured and cast in the flick.
A rumor also offers that Brainiac is a lock as a/the villain.
James Gunn has been silent as of late on all the casting rumors as Gunn said he is “going to slow down on calling shit out.”
Superman: Legacy flies into theaters on July 11, 2025. The film is described as telling the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
