‘Doctor Who’ Scores Worst Ratings For Season Finale

The new series of Doctor Who now also holds the record for the worst ratings for a season finale in the show’s entire 60-year history.

Saturday saw Episode 8, “Empire of Death,” watched by only 2.25 million viewers, according to the UK overnight ratings system.

The previous episode from last week, “The Legend of Ruby Sunday,” holds the record for the worst ratings in the show’s 60-year history.

Viewership is down considerably from just six months ago as more than 2 million viewers have stopped watching from when the Christmas Special aired in December.

Series 14 starring Ncuti Gatwa is also down 3 million viewers from the first special from last year featuring the return of David Tennant.

The Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker era also performed considerably better as the Series 13 season finale released in 2021 was watched by 3.71 million viewers.

Whittaker’s Series 12’s season finale? 4.69 million. Series 11? 5.32 million.

The Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score for Series 14 is also at 32% from fans.

It’s also learned with four episodes released, Doctor Who Series 14 on Disney+ fails to make the Nielsen’s ratings charts. Likewise, none of the episodes have made the weekly Samba TV charts who refuses to report on the numbers, likely at the request of Disney who is an investor.

Returning showrunner Russell T Davies recently addressed the low ratings and even admitted they’re not where they want them to be.

Episodes of Doctor Who Series 14 also average as the least-watched in the show’s 60 year history with 2.27 million.
