Doctor Who again scores a new ratings low with Episode #7, “The Legend of Ruby Sunday,” the worst in the entire show’s 60-year history, and it’s the second time to do so this season.
It’s also learned the two-episode premiere from last month failed to make the Nielsen ratings charts for Disney+, just as the three 60th Anniversary Specials didn’t make the ratings charts or the Christmas Special.
Lowest ratings in 60 years
The overnight UK ratings system reports Doctor Who was watched by only 2.02 million viewers – the lowest ever in 60 years – and lower than Episode 3’s 2.04 million.
The episode also loses about a hundred thousand viewers from the previous episode.
“The Legend of Ruby Sunday” also revealed the new series villain, seemingly an important episode, but as we see, fans continue to turn off the show, just as Ncuti Gutwa asked them to.
Fails to make Nielsen ratings with first 3 episodes
Regarding the ratings on Disney+, the two-episode premiere fails to make the Nielsen ratings for the week they premiered, May 6-12 (premiered May 11), and didn’t make the Nielsen ratings for the subsequent week’s timeframe, May 13-18, with three episodes available as of the 18th.
Doctor Who is also absent from the Disney-invested Samba TV charts who hasn’t released any viewership numbers, likely at the request of Disney because the viewership is so bad.
Who’s watching???
Returning showrunner Russell T Davies recently tackled the poor ratings and admitted the ratings are not where they want them to be.
He also spun some BS about how the series is being watched by a big younger audience. Well, maybe they are the only ones watching? But they’re not watching on Disney+ as recent data from the Disney-invested Samba TV reveals Disney+ is the least-watched streamer among the Gen Z crowd.
Russell T Davies thought he would stick it to everyone and double down with the woke BS because of the Disney money but we all knew what would happen. When it’s all about the agenda, it’s a massive fail. Proven every time.
The series also has a 27% Audience Score from fans on Rotten Tomatoes.
