First Supergirl Poster Revealed by James Gunn

First Supergirl Poster Revealed by James Gunn

James Gunn just dropped the first official poster for Supergirl, teasing Milly Alcock’s debut solo outing as Kara Zor-El.

The image shows Supergirl leaning casually in front of a graffiti-tagged Superman crest with the words “LOOK OUT” spray-painted in red. She’s sipping a blue drink, rocking the red-and-blue suit under a brown trench coat.

The poster matches the tone teased in Superman, where Alcock’s Supergirl shows up in a surprise end cameo and calls Superman a “b-tch” before taking Krypto back and heading off.

She appears drunk, and it’s explained she gets intoxicated by visiting red sun planets. That moment drew mixed reactions from fans.

Supergirl Movie Release Date and Cast

The Supergirl solo movie releases June 26, 2026, and continues Gunn’s DCU following the events of Superman. Milly Alcock plays Kara Zor-El, who Gunn says is “a lot harsher than Clark” and was raised in a harsher Kryptonian environment.

The film is directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) with Ana Nogueira writing the script.

Eve Ridley plays Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts is the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz plays Zor-El, and Emily Beecham is Alura, with Jason Momoa as Lobo.

What to Expect

Based on her brief role in Superman, Supergirl will lean into a more rebellious, unfiltered version of the character. The tone is expected to be different from Kal-El’s grounded, hopeful story. The poster alone suggests this Supergirl doesn’t care about tradition—she’s doing things her own way.

“We see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl,” said Gunn at the DCU press event from January 2023. “She’s much more hardcore, she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
