Similar to Rian Johnson, it seems that Mark Hamill also wanted to bury Luke Skywalker.
While Johnson had Hamill throw away the lightsaber, Hamill’s bright idea sounds like something that matches his politics, where I can’t help but think that his idea likely mirrors his thoughts on gun control and that “guns are bad.”

What did Mark Hamill say?
While recently appearing on the Bullseye podcast, Hamill revealed his pitch to Johnson about the return of Luke Skywalker, something fans had been waiting for 40 years.
No, Hamill’s idea isn’t that Luke would be a Master Jedi, quite the opposite, Luke would be a master disaster.
“I thought, what could make someone give up a devotion to what is basically a religious entity, to give up being a Jedi,” he explained on the podcast.
“Well, the love of a woman,” Hamill continued.

Hamill’s Dark and Depressing Luke Skywalker Pitch
So Mark Hamill explains that Luke stopped being a Jedi because he fell in love with a woman, as Jedi are forbidden to marry and have kids. Here’s where Hamill’s idea switches gears.
“So, he falls in love with a woman. He gives up being a Jedi. They have a child together,” said Hamill. “At some point the child, as a toddler, picks up an unattended lightsaber, pushes the button, and is killed instantly. The wife is so full of grief, she kills herself.”
Of course, this would lead to the loser Luke we see in Johnson’s movie where he doesn’t care about the Jedi and lives on an island sucking off the teat of an alien cow.

Hamill Flip-Flops on Luke Skywalker
Hamill’s recent revelation about his Luke idea also follows his comments about how he doesn’t want Luke ever again.
Oddly, his recent comments are in stark contrast to his comments about Luke following the release of The Last Jedi, where he said he was outraged and shocked by what Disney did to the character. Now Hamill comes up with this idea???
