During today’s Capcom Spotlight presentation, a new Resident Evil Requiem “Official Game Overview” trailer has been released, giving fans a deeper look at how the ninth mainline game is evolving the franchise. The five-minute video highlights gameplay, character insights, and commentary from the development team, who describe the experience as being driven by “addictive fear.”
Watch below.
Grace Ashcroft: A New Kind of Resident Evil Protagonist
The trailer confirms Resident Evil Requiem centers on Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted, easily frightened, but also trained in firearms and deduction. Capcom says she reflects the player’s experience, reacting to horror and learning to push through it.
The developers explain that Grace will feel real, right down to details like facial redness while hanging upside down and the natural flow of her hair, modeled using a real wig. This focus on realism adds to the immersive horror vibe Capcom is aiming for.

First- and Third-Person Gameplay Confirmed
Players can switch between first-person and third-person views at will. First-person looks built for tension, while the over-the-shoulder third-person mode lends itself to more traditional Resident Evil-style action.
Capcom says the game aims to deliver “tense, realistic gameplay” no matter the perspective. The dual-mode approach offers flexibility and could satisfy both longtime fans and newer players.

A New Chapter, Set 30 Years After Raccoon City
Resident Evil Requiem takes place 30 years after the U.S. government nuked Raccoon City to contain the t-virus outbreak. The story acts as a kind of memorial to those lost — or forever changed — during that event. Capcom calls it a “eulogy,” just ahead of the franchise’s 30th anniversary in March 2026.
Release Date and Platforms
Resident Evil Requiem launches February 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. More updates are expected as the anniversary approaches.
