Take-Two CEO Shuts Down GTA 6 Physical Release Delay Rumors

As speculation continues over the status of Grand Theft Auto VI, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has responded directly to one of the more recent and viral rumors: that Rockstar might delay the release of physical copies of GTA 6 until 2027 to prevent leaks.

Zelnick Says Physical Copies Will Not Be Delayed

In an interview with Variety, Zelnick was asked about the online claims suggesting Rockstar could launch GTA 6 digitally in 2026 while holding back physical discs until the following year to reduce piracy or early gameplay leaks.

“That’s not the plan,” Zelnick said, directly refuting the rumor.

The comment is brief but clear. It suggests that, despite the ongoing concerns over leaks and internal disruption, Take-Two still intends to release both digital and physical versions of Grand Theft Auto VI on its announced date — November 19, 2026.

Rumors Continue Around Possible Further Delays

Zelnick’s statement comes just after new insider reporting from last month suggested that GTA 6 is still not content complete, with developers allegedly still finalizing missions and major systems.

While nothing official has changed, even some Rockstar staff reportedly aren’t sure if the studio will hit the announced date.

Still, Zelnick’s firm denial of the 2027 physical release rumor indicates Take-Two is trying to calm speculation and reaffirm their commitment to the November launch.
