A new batch of MCU X-Men casting rumors has hit the net, offering Daniel Day-Lewis, Bryan Cranston, Cynthia Erivo, and more are possibly up for the roles to star in Kevin Feige’s new age of mutants following Avengers: Secret Wars.
The latest rumors follow those earlier rumors that have claimed Feige wants to differentiate his X-Men and go with Black actors in the roles of Professor X and Magneto.
However, these new rumors line up more with the classic and comic-accurate versions, such as those played by Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, and James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender.
Magneto rumor
A wild rumor claims that Feige and Marvel are eyeing Daniel Day-Lewis, which is backed up by another user on X.
I can’t see Daniel Day-Lewis playing a Marvel role, TBH, and can’t see the 68-year-old actor signing on for what is guessed to be multiple movies spanning ten years or more.
Denzel Washington has also been rumored as Magneto, who has a confirmed part in Black Panther 3.
Professor X rumor
A rumor also offers that Bryan Cranston is up to play Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men reboot.
Cranston of course played the bald Walter White in Breaking Bad, and nearly Lex Luthor for Zack Snyder from what I was told years ago.
I also believe Cranston has said he wouldn’t mind playing X-Men villain, Mr. Sinister, numerous times.
I’ll also be honest, I can’t see Cranston as Professor X. He’s also 69 years old.
Coleman Domingo has also been said to be high on the list.
Storm rumors
What will be a major character a part of Feige’s new X-Men in the MCU is Storm.
Rumors offer that Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo is being eyed to play Storm. Cynthia Erivo previously said she wants the role. My take? Heck, no.
Additional rumored names for Storm include Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Jodie Turner-Smith.
Cyclops
As I just went over, the Cyclops rumors include Harris Dickinson, but according to Jeff Sneider, the actor will be too busy with Beatles.
Another name in the mix is said to be Patrick Schwarzenegger (White Lotus, The Boys: Gen V). Fans seem to think Patrick is a lock as Cyclops because of that image going around that looks to be from the set of Avengers: Doomsday. However, I believe that’s clickbait and it’s actually from a different project.
I believe Patrick Schwarzenegger has tried out for just about every Hollywood role that fits him, so Cyclops can’t be ruled out.
Wolverine
Following Deadpool & Wolverine, I was told Feige is eyeing Henry Cavill in the role for the MCU’s version of Wolverine, which has seemingly been back up.
At the same time, it has also been reported Feige wants to keep Hugh Jackman around for the next decade.
Basically, what you are going to be hearing from the “scoopers” is every name under the sun, so don’t be surprised if many of them don’t happen.
What’s next for the X-Men?
Marvel has confirmed the Fox actors and characters are returning for Avengers: Doomsday with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden. Channing Tatum also returns as Gambit.
It’s also rumored that Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier is being eyed to direct, who is also said to be a big X-Men fan.
Michael Lesslie is penning the screenplay, who recently wrote The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes starring Rachel Zegler.
X-Men ’97 Season 2 and 3 are also in the works for Disney+. Neve Campbell is voicing Polaris.
