Krysten Ritter will be back as Jessica Jones and will be a part of the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which is currently in development for Disney+ following the first season.
Marvel made the big announcement on Tuesday at the Disney upfront presentation for advertisers. Charlie Cox was on stage along with Ritter.
Ritter said:
“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”
Of course, Krysten Ritter starred in Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix and in The Defenders. The ratings haven’t been good for Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 at all, among the worst in the MCU, so we’ll have to see if the addition of Ritter makes a difference.
Rumors have also offered the other Netflix Marvel characters could return, which would include Mike Coulter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Iron Fist. As revealed in the last episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, Matt is going to need some help to take on the Kingpin and his army. Jon Bernthal returned as Punisher.

Season 2 to be big improvement
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again picks up after Season 1’s cliffhanger, where Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) seized control by force. With Fisk cracking down on vigilantes, Matt Murdock goes underground and starts rallying allies to fight back — now revealed to include Jessica Jones.
As I first said, Marvel has been retooling its TV division, which will continue with Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Cox recently said the second season will be a big improvement over the first season:
“I don’t want to oversell it. I do happen to think it’s some of the best writing we’ve ever had on this show. I am sure everyone always says that. I texted the showrunner, Dario, the other day and was like, ‘Obviously we’re still halfway through shooting it, but huge, huge credit to what you’ve pieced together here.’ He’s done something which I’m really excited about, which is that he’s fleshed out characters that in the previous iteration of the show often get left behind. So, it feels much more like an ensemble than it’s ever felt.”
Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 is available on Disney+.
