Venom 3 continues bombing at the box office as it’s second weekend will also be the lowest of the franchise.
In its opening weekend, Venom 3 only brought in $51 million, much lower than the first Venom’s $80M and Let There Be Carnage‘s $90M.
The trend continues in its second weekend as Venom 3 is estimated to bring in $22.2M, around a 56% drop.
Monday update: Actuals are $26.1M for a 48.8% drop, still the lowest of franchise.
The first Venom also dropped around 56% but brought in $35M. Let There Be Carnage had a bigger drop of 64.7% but brought in $31.7M. Obviously the numbers reveal less fans are coming out for The Last Dance.
In its first ten days domestically, the first two flicks hit $142M and $141M, respectively, but Venom 3 is only at $90M.
As I went over in my review, Venom 3 had some good things about it but what weighed things down were the bad things, and there were some really bad things. I blame Tom Hardy and Kelly Marcel. They co-wrote the script and Marcel directed; it’s obvious they don’t care about the source material or have any respect for the fans, it seems they consider the fans dumb. That’s Sony Marvel in a nutshell.
As of Friday, Venom 3 also has yet to hit the $200M mark.
Monday update: Thanks to a big international draw, the box office is now over $300M.
Venom 3 box office:
Domestic (28.4%): $90,047,430
International (71.6%): $227,000,000
Worldwide: $317,047,430
