'Kraven' Sounds Like A Hard 'R' Rating, Harder Than 'Deadpool & Wolverine'

New details have come out regarding the “R” rating for Sony’s Kraven, which sounds like the flick will be a harder-rated R movie than Deadpool & Wolverine.

The MPAA has given Kraven an R rating for “strong bloody violence, and language.” Previously for Deadpool & Wolverine, the MPAA gave it an R rating for “strong bloody violence and language throughout, gore and sexual references.”

However, over in the UK, the British Board of Film Classification’s ratings are more fine tuned.

Deadpool & Wolverine received a 15 rating which restricts content to those age 15 and over.

The British Board of Film Classification rated a recent Kraven trailer an 18 rating, which means no one under the age of 18 can watch the content. It’s basically the equivalent of an NC-17.

The BBFC has yet to announce the official rating for Kraven, but if it rates a trailer an 18, more than likely the rest of the movie will be just as mature and the BBFC will slap an 18 rating on it. Worth a mention is that with that 18 rating means fewer ticket sales, as those under the age are not allowed in the theater.

Kraven gets released on December 13, 2024 directed by J.C. Chandor and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe.

Synopsis: Kraven the Hunter is the visceral, action-packed origin story of how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.
