Batman Vs. Superman Trailer #2

With the release of the latest Batman Vs. Superman trailer (watch above) came fan uproar as many fans felt too much was revealed, especially with the appearance of Doomsday. The Daily Beast caught up with Zack Snyder to get his thoughts on the iconic Superman villain.

“I know what’s in the movie, so I know there’s other stuff,” Snyder said, which echoes recent statements the director said about the trailer to MTV as well: “I have the benefit of seeing the movie. It’s cool that they think it’s too much and I appreciate people not wanting to know, but there’s plenty that they don’t know. There’s a lot of movie that’s not in the trailer.”

The Daily Beast notes Snyder and Warner Bros. “wrestled with just how much to reveal to fans.”

“We had a long conversation about just taking ownership of that, of giving it to the audience in a controlled way that I felt was consistent with the escalation of the campaign,” Snyder said.

Regarding Doomsday, Snyder teases the character (or perhaps some version?) may be featured in Justice League.

“Well, you have Doomsday, right? He doesn’t just crawl out of the ground. He has his own mythology, right? So that has to be explored…” Snyder offered.

As Batman v Superman is also titled “Dawn of Justice,” Snyder alludes to Doomsday being a bigger part of the picture.

“To us it really made sense to give [Doomsday] to the audience now. I really wanted to make the audience a promise that… though I’m super excited and happy and fulfilled by the conflict of Batman and Superman, there’s also a bigger world to start to think about.”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs.
