Zachary Levi Cast As Shazam

Zachary Levi Cast As Shazam

In a rather unexpected casting move, WB and director David F. Sandberg have cast Zachary Levi as their Captain Marvel, aka Shazam.

Zachary Levi actually plays Fandral for Marvel Studios as well and appears in next week’s Thor: Ragnarok; Levi is also known for Heroes Reborn and Chuck.

The casting of Zachary Levi as Shazam shouldn’t be all that too surprising as reportedly Shazam will have comedic elements, which fits right in with Zachary Levi.

It’s also said that other actors considered for the role of Shazam included  John Cena, Derek Theler, Zane Holtz, Billy Magnussen, and Jake McDorman.

Fan-favorite choice to play Shazam, and who the Comic Con concept art looked a lot like, Alan Ritchson, will be playing Hawk for the live-action Titans series.

For those worried that Zachary Levi isn’t buff enough for the role, it’s revealed that Zachary Levi is working his butt off to achieve the Captain Marvel physique (see below).

Shazam has an April 2019 release date, with filming looking to begin soon.
