WWE Expands into Lucha Libre
Founded in 1992 by Antonio Peña, AAA has built a massive following with legends like Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, and Penta passing through its doors. Now, WWE and Fillip are bringing AAA under the TKO Group umbrella. The Peña family will remain involved.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, emphasized the deal’s cultural and fan significance, calling it an “honor to work with the Peña family.” He noted the partnership aims to combine WWE’s global reach with AAA’s deep-rooted tradition.
“AAA has a rich cultural heritage with some of the most passionate fans in the world and it’s an honor to work with the Peña family to embark on this journey,” said Levesque in a statement. “By bringing together WWE’s global capabilities and AAA’s amazing tradition, we look forward to an exciting future filled with new opportunities.”
