No Worries About Wonder Woman Movie

Following all the negative reviews for Batman Vs. Superman and Suicide Squad, I’ve seen more than a few reactions state the same regarding the upcoming Gal Gadot Wonder Woman movie.

While it’s true that both Batman Vs. Superman and Suicide Squad had their faults, they were at least enjoyable and lots of people did love them (I’m fond of the BvS Ultimate Edition myself).

Regarding Wonder Woman, this will be the first DC movie that Geoff Johns is directly involved with. Johns helped write the Wonder Woman script, and he was also on set in England. Following the Batman Vs. Superman fallout, Johns was elevated to President of DC Entertainment, and you can even argue he is in a better position than that of Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige. While Feige is simply in charge of the Marvel movies, Geoff Johns is involved with all forms of DC: from movies, to TV, to comics to gaming. The Batman Vs. Superman fallout also saw various producers ousted from having much influence, so Wonder Woman probably won’t have the interference that Suicide Squad  (lots of cuts and versions) and even Batman Vs. Superman (didn’t let Snyder go ahead with his cut of the movie) had.

I’ve said it before, and I know some of you will bring up Green Lantern, but Johns was on board as an executive producer in most likely an advisory role. The writers of Green Lantern also recently came out and said not to blame them as the version of the movie was a lot different than their script. I think the pattern we see is that the execs/producers at WB (whoever they are) interfered with these movies a bit too much, but the good news is that they are apparently no longer involved.

“Wonder Woman” has a June 2, 2017 release directed by Patty Jenkins also starring Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, and Saïd Taghmaoui.

Synopsis:

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
