Sunday saw the debut of the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer, which offered a vastly different tone compared to the first movie, something the video’s number of dislikes on YouTube may reflect.

The Wonder Woman 1984 trailer on the Warner Bros. YouTube channel has only been viewed around 12.1 million times but has over 14k dislikes.

For comparison, the first Wonder Woman Comic-Con trailer released in July of 2016 has 9k dislikes, but over 30 million views.

Likewise, the official Wonder Woman trailer released in November 2016 has 9.1k dislikes with over 27.7 million views.

The Wonder Woman 1984 trailer does have over 437k likes, which is a lot more than the first Wonder Woman trailers, so this could simply be a case of more fans interacting, but it does show that quite a number of them may not be too happy.

Wonder Woman 1984 taking Marvel approach

Wonder Woman 1984 is obviously taking a “Kevin Feige Marvel” approach to the film – similar to James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy flicks and Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok – instead of going the route the first movie did, which was similar to Zack Snyder’s DCEU films that are less popcorn films and are the more serious comic book movies.

Not featuring the epic Hans Zimmer Wonder Woman score in the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer only adds to the proof that director Patty Jenkins wants to go a different path with the sequel.
