‘Wicked’ Sing-Along Screenings Announced for Christmas Day

Universal Pictures has announced special sing-along screenings of Wicked on December 25, giving fans the chance to celebrate the record-breaking musical adaptation in over 1,000 theaters across the U.S., Canada, and select international markets. A Soundtrack Phenomenon

Featuring music by Grammy and Oscar-winning composer Stephen Schwartz, the film’s soundtrack has set records of its own. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and has achieved over 270 million global streams, marking the largest streaming week ever for a stage-to-screen musical. A sing-along version of the soundtrack will be released digitally on December 20, ahead of the screenings.

An Interactive Holiday Experience

“The overwhelming response to Wicked has been remarkable,” said Jim Orr, president of domestic theatrical distribution for Universal Pictures. “These sing-along screenings offer fans a unique opportunity to become part of the story they’ve embraced so enthusiastically. There’s something extraordinarily special about experiencing this beloved musical together as a community, and we’re thrilled to create that opportunity this holiday season.”

The sing-along format will feature lyrics for all the film’s musical numbers, allowing audiences to join in the performances that have resonated globally. Showings will take place in standard format theaters, with multiple showtimes available on Christmas Day.
