This past Summer saw Spider-Man: Homecoming debut with fan-favorite actor Donald Glover cast as the role of Aaron Davis, aka The Prowler from the comics.
One scene with Donald Glover involved him giving advice to Spider-Man in a car garage, where Spidey ends up webbing Davis’ hand to the back of a car telling him it will dissolve in a few hours.
Well, Aaron Davis happens to be the uncle of Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales.
In the following deleted scene, after getting webbed to the car, Davis makes a telephone call–to Miles!
“Yeah, sorry, Miles. I am not going to make it. Yeah, I am just stuck,” Donald Glover’s character says.
Donald Glover was actually a huge fan-favorite pick to play Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales at one time, which is why he was cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Regarding why the scene was cut, it’s possible it may have to due with Sony currently developing the animated Spider-Man movie starring Miles Morales, which is not a part of the MCU or related to Marvel Studios.
Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige did previously comment on Miles Morales being in the MCU.
“All of those little things are just Easter eggs for fans until they’re something more than that,” Feige told Screen Crush. “But anything that’s happened in the books is potential material for us. In the meantime, I think Miles is a big part of the animated movie that Sony’s making. But where we go … we definitely want you to go ‘He’s there. He’s there somewhere.’ “
