The BBC has released a new teaser for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special, “The Return of Doctor Mysterio.”
“I’ve always been fascinated by superheroes,” Showrunner Stephen Moffat says. “Where I think superheroes are at their best is in the secret identity. The most exciting superhero, of all time, is Clark Kent. He has to be a god and pretend he isn’t. It’s the best story ever.”
The 60-minute Doctor Who Christmas Special stars Peter Capaldi, Charity Wakefield, Justin Chatwin, Matt Lucas, Adetomiwa Edun, Aleksandar Jovanovic and Logan Hoffman, and will air on BBC AMERICA, written by Steven Moffat, executive produced by Brian Minchin, produced by Peter Bennett and directed by Ed Bazalgette (Poldark). It was shot in Cardiff at BBC Wales Roath Lock Studios.
Synopsis:
The hit BBCA series will return on Christmas day as the Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, teams up with an investigative journalist, played by Charity Wakefield and a superhero (Justin Chatwin) to save New York from a deadly alien threat.
