Spinning out of Supergirl, a new Superman TV series is possible starring Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent and The CW’s Man of Steel.
Elizabeth Tulloch made her grand debut on Sunday during the Elseworlds episode of The Flash as Lois Lane, and now she lets it be known a Superman TV series has been talked about.
“Potentially, and it was something I sort of talked to one of the producers about,” Tulloch told TV Line. “I think it’ll depend on how this is reviewed and a bunch of other external factors that nobody has really that much control over. I know Tyler and I would love to come back and work more together. We fortunately had great chemistry, which is not always a given.”
In addition to Lois Lane getting introduced, the upcoming episodes of Supergirl are also introducing none other than Superman villain Lex Luthor, played by Jon Cryer, so we see there is further development going on surrounding a potential spinoff series.
“We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season,” Supergirl executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller said in a previous statement. “We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since it’s inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister Lena Luthor.”
Worth a mention is that there are no current plans for Henry Cavill to return as Superman on the big screen, with rumors pointing to Cavill’s exit from the character and a potential reboot. Amy Adams recently let it be known she is done with Lois Lane and the DCEU, which follows Elizabeth Tulloch getting cast as the Daily Planet reporter.
It’s known that Warner Bros. doesn’t like to use the same characters in their movies and in their television shows at the same time, which is why the Suicide Squad was axed from Arrow when that movie was coming out.
It’s possible additional Superman DCEU appearances and Man of Steel movies could be placed on the backburner in favor of a Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch Superman CW series.
Regarding Tyler Hoechlin, look for him tonight as the black-suited Superman on part 3 of the Elseworlds crossover at 8pm EST on Supergirl.
The first part of the crossover also featured a Smallville nod, which is further explained here.
