Tyler Hoechlin Joins MTV’s Scream

Tyler Hoechlin, known for playing Superman on The CW’s Supergirl and Derek Hale on MTV’s Teen Wolf, has joined MTV’s Scream series.

THR reports Tyler Hoechlin is sticking with MTV, set to debut in Scream‘s third season, with the news coming just a day following Teen Wolf having aired its last episode on Sunday night.

Tyler Hoechlin will play the series regular role of Shane, a high school dropout. The character is described as a drug dealer and party promoter who is always hustling in order to make money. But beneath that exterior, there’s more to Shane than anyone realizes.

Scream Season 3 revolves around Deion Elliot (RJ Cyler), a local star running back whose tragic past comes back to haunt him at the worst time, threatening his hard-earned plans for his future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends.

Scream Season 3 premieres next year also starring Keke Palmer, Giorgia Whigham, Jessica Sula, Giullian Yao Gioiello, Tyga and C.J. Wallace.

Regarding seeing Tyler Hoechlin in Supergirl Season 3, back in May, Hoechlin seemingly teased a return to the Man of Steel role.

“Hoping, hoping, of course. I have such a great time there, you know, if that opportunity comes up I would love to do so,” Tyler Hoechlin told IGN. “And as far as exploring more, it’s one of those things that I’d love to sit down, if that is a conversation that is had, that I would like to, you know, sit down with Greg [Berlanti] and Andrew [Kreisberg], and find again what we were excited to explore the first time around. I think that’s what made it so fun to jump into, was having an idea of what we wanted to do. You know, I would love the opportunity to have that conversation again. There’s so much left there, there’s still a lot there to explore with Jimmy Olsen, you know, I don’t think they had a proper catch-up quite yet about what James has been up to lately,” Hoechlin continued. “So, I’d be very curious to see how he feels about that. So, I think there’s a lot of opportunity there, and hopefully, I would love the chance to see it through, explore that. So, we’ll see what the future holds.”
