Watch: Heroes Reborn Character Teasers

Check out four character teasers for NBC’s Heroes Reborn, which premiers September 24 at 8/7c.

Updated: with two more below.

Synopsis:

“A year ago, a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas, left the city decimated. Blamed for the tragic event, those with extraordinary abilities are in hiding or on the run from those with nefarious motives. Two such vigilantes include Luke (Zachary Levi, “Chuck”) and Joanne (Judith Shekoni, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2”), who are seeking to avenge a tragic loss.

Noah Bennet, aka H.R.G. (Jack Coleman, “Heroes”), has gone off the grid but conspiracy theorist Quentin Frady (Henry Zebrowski, “A to Z”) finds him and opens his eyes to the truth behind the Odessa tragedy. While in hiding, some are discovering their newfound skills. Awkward teen Tommy (Robbie Kay, “Once Upon a Time”) just wants to be normal and win the girl of his dreams, Emily (Gatlin Green, “Criminal Minds”), but normalcy is virtually impossible after learning of a new ability that terrifies him. Coming from a very sheltered upbringing, a bold and ethereal teenager, Malina (Danika Yarosh, “Shameless”), has been told she is destined for greatness. In Tokyo, a quiet and unique young woman, Miko (Kiki Sukezane, “Death Yankee 3”), is trying to track down her missing father while hiding an extraordinary secret that will make her a force to bereckoned with. Elsewhere, a different type of hero is emerging through former soldier Carlos (Ryan Guzman, “The Boy Next Door”). Meanwhile, Erica (Rya Kihlstedt, “Masters of Sex”), the head of the highly successful tech conglomerate Renautas, has an agenda of her own.

For better or for worse, some are fated to cross paths with assorted heroes of the past, including Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), among others.

Friday The 13th TV Series Described As True Detective and Twin Peaks On Acid

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21737:]]

Recently it became known that a new Friday The 13th TV series is in development at The CW, and now new details have become known.

The new series was previously described as: The ongoing quest of a detective’s search for his missing brother that is somehow tied to Jason Vorhees, a long thought dead serial killer who has now returned to wreak havoc in the new Crystal Lake.

Legion Of Leia caught up with Steve Mitchell,  writer on the new Friday 13th series, who offered the following tidbits:

• The feel of the show is described as a “cross between the first season of True Detective and Twin Peaks on acid.”

• They didn’t want to do a weekly show about a guy wielding a machete chasing scantily clad women.

• They reinvented Crystal Lake as more of a thriving town similar to a Silicon Valley filled with young rich people who have a lot of time on their hands, and at the same time there are old people who grew up there (and remember Jason).

• The new Crystal Lake is said to be similar to the town from Jaws or Amityville 20 years later.

• The cop discovers his lost brother was looking into Jason: “Is this Jason or is this a copycat? Is it possible that Jason has been around all these years? Is Jason a monster? Is he real? Is he a serial killer? And really exploring who and what Jason is, is part of the whole thrill of the show.”

• The movies will be acknowledged in that the movies were made following the events of Jason; however, the young people just know Jason from the movies, while the older people there know what happened.

• Mitchell added: “The underlying thematic of the whole thing is that Jason is a monster in this town. He openly wears a mask. But everybody in this town wears a mask. Underneath those is the monster.”

“Powerless” DC Comedy TV Series Coming To NBC

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21736:]]

NBC decided to forgo Season 2 of Constantine for some reason, but now it’s learned they are not done with DC just yet.

Deadline reports NBC is developing a new DC comedy series said to be in the vein of The Office, but with super heroes, titled Powerless (and a lot similar to Marvel Comics’ Damage Control).

It’s said Powerless will be a half-hour single-camera comedy from A To Z creator Ben Queen and Warner Bros. TV based on characters from DC Comics that is a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics.

The show is about the “reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.”

It’s currently unknown which DC characters will appear on Powerless, but the report mentions not to expect the DC heavyweights like Batman or Superman (i.e. movie properties).

The focus of the series is on the ordinary, “power-less” folk working at the insurance company who often envy the men and women outside their window who make headlines with their supernatural powers.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21673:]]

This past Monday on WWE Monday Night RAW saw Arrow star Stephen Amell enter the squared circle, and now there is no going back.

Amell signed with the WWE to partner with Neville, the “Red Arrow,” to take on Wade Barrett and Cody “Stardust” Rhodes.

Amell actually look pretty good when he was in the ring as he jumped the ropes, tackled Stardust and landed some pretty convincing elbow drops.

The latest from Amell is that he posted the following image on Facebook of himself training in the ring.

Questions: Will Amell have a finisher? Will Amell come down to some cool Arrow music? Will Amell be dressed as the Green Arrow?

“Somewhere… Brooklyn beckons…” the Green Arrow added.

Adult Swim has announced that they are ordering more intergalactic adventures with the season three pickup of the original hit animated comedy series, Rick and Morty. New episodes of the series air Sundays at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT.

The series’ season two premiere on Sunday, July 26, ranked #1 in its time period among all key adults and men and charted triple-digit delivery gains over its prior season premiere (P18-24 +154%, P18-34 +117%, P18-49 +121%). The television audience continued to grow in the series’ second week, charting week-over-week gains of up to 27% among all key demos. The season two premiere of Rick and Morty fueled Adult Swim’s video streams in July’15, with an overall total of 29.7M streams, up +12% month-to-month. (Source: Nielsen Media Research Data, Omniture and YouTube Analytics)

“It’s an honor to see Rick and Morty join the exclusive club of shows with over nineteen episodes,” said co-creator and executive producer Dan Harmon. “It’s time to demand that the network allow us to draw the characters going to Hawaii.”

“I am blown away by the seemingly instant success of Rick and Morty. I look forward to continuing their adventures!” said co-creator and executive producer Justin Roiland.

In season two, Rick Sanchez (Justin Roiland) is still living with his daughter Beth’s (Sarah Chalke) family and causing more trouble than ever. This season the rest of the family, his son-in-law Jerry (Chris Parnell), grand-daughter Summer (Spencer Grammer) and grand-son Morty (Justin Roiland) are dragged into Rick’s intergalactic adventures, as he faces new threats and mysteries of his secret past are revealed. Can the family survive Rick’s insanity and all the chaos the universe throws at them?

Created and executive produced by Dan Harmon (Community) and Justin Roiland (Adventure Time), the half-hour animated series airing on Sundays at 11:30pm ET/PT follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.

No More DC Spinoffs For The CW: Open To Supergirl Crossover

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21695:]]

With four DC shows on the slate (Arrow, Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow, iZombie), it’s learned The CW is putting a hold on anymore spinoffs or series from DC Comics.

The LA Times reports CW president Mark Pedowitz stated there are no plans for additional series at the Television Critics Association press tour.

“There is no intention, at this point, to spin anything else off,” Pedowitz said.

It’s also learned that The CW passed on Supergirl, which went to CBS, as The CW was intent on increasing their male viewership, which is why they decided to go with The Flash. The CW was actually approached with Supergirl before The Flash, but the article notes The CW didn’t want to “commit to another superhero series because it would detract from its overall mission to broaden out.”

While Supergirl is on another network, it’s created by the same team behind Arrow and The Flash; Pedowitz did note the three series will have cross-promotions, and Pedowitz also noted the possibility for a Supergirl/Arrow/Flash crossover is there.

“We’re open to crossovers,” Pedowitz said. “It’s [EP Greg Berlanti’s] call because he understands his shows.”

Jay Garrick Teaser Poster For The Flash Season 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21684:]]

The Flash can’t get here soon enough – even with the help of the Speed Force – as the season doesn’t debut until the first week of October.

While we wait, the social networks accounts of the series have released the following Jay Garrick teaser poster for The Flash Season 2.

Jay Garrick was first teased with his helmet during Season 1, and it’s recently been learned Teddy Sears will be playing Jay Garrick for The Flash Season 2.

We see the poster is a homage to The Flash #123, “The Flash Of Two Worlds,” which introduced the multiverse to DC Comics.

The poster also apparently gives a first look at Jay Garrick’s costume in Season 2 of The Flash.

“The Flash” Season 2 premiers Tuesday, October 6th on the CW.

Watch: Matt Ryan Confirms Constantine For Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21682:]]

Arrow has saved Constantine.

While the series may not be returning, it’s confirmed that Matt Ryan will be reprising as Constantine in an upcoming episode of Arrow.

Matt Ryan took to his Twitter account to post the following video that the rumors are true.

Likewise, Stephen Amell took to Twitter to respond with: “Hey, Matty… Welcome to Arrow!”

When NBC recently cancelled Constantine, Stephen Amell came out supporting the series stating he would even guest star on the show if it ended up getting picked up at another network. While that didn’t happen, at least Constantine will live on for one more episode this season on Arrow.

Update: EP Marc Guggenheim offered the following details (via TVInsider.com):

“We are super-crazy excited about this,” Guggenheim said of the “one-time-only deal,” which is currently scheduled for the fifth episode of Arrow‘s upcoming season. “Each year on the show, we have added and expanded the mythology with different elements. In Season 2 we introduced the idea of superpowers, last year brought in the League of Assassins, and for Season 4, we always had a plan to introduce magic and mysticism. We were already swimming in those waters and that’s why Constantine is this great organic little development.”

Guggenheim teases Constantine is brought into the series as a result of Sara Lance’s resurrection through use of the Lazarus Pit.

“Unlike Thea, who wasn’t fully dead, the consequences of using the pit on someone as dead as Sara was creates some unforeseen difficulties…and John Constantine is uniquely suited to help our team deal with those,” Guggenheim offered.

Guggenheim also says Matt Ryan will look like his usual hell blazing self, and that an original director is on board Arrow to helm the episode.

“The trench coat, the tie, the shirt…the whole wardrobe is being taken out for storage and shipped up to Vancouver.” Guggenheim said, adding tht John Badham, a director on Constantine, is also on board to direct the episode. “He is familiar with Constantine and Matt Ryan, so it’s a wonderful combination.”

Lucifer Pilot Leaks Online

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21669:]]

Joing The Flash and Supergirl, now the pilot for Lucifer has leaked online weeks prior to its planned debut.

Pilots for Minority Report, Blindspot and The Carmichael Show have also leaked.

The “pirated” screenings of the series first appeared on torrent websites at around 2 a.m. ET today, according to antipiracy analytics firm Excipio (via Variety).

It’s noted all the copies bear no watermarks and are in HD, so it is possible the leaks are not from review copies, assuming the networks (Fox and NBC) watermarked all the advance review copies like the studios usually do.

It’s possible the leaks could have come straight from someone within the studio.

As of around noon today, each of the series was downloaded around 100,000 times, with Lucifer topping the list at close to 142, 000.

In addition to the pilots for The Flash and Supergirl previously leaking online, episodes of HBO’s Game Of Thrones have leaked online.

It probably should be mentioned the leaks usually don’t negatively impact the series; actually, it probably could be argued they increase hype and promotion.

Lucifer is set to premiere on Fox in 2016.

Daredevil and The Punisher are said to be more at odds over their personal philosophies for handing out justice in the show, rather than The Punisher being a straight-up villain for Season 2. It’s said due to the events at the end of Daredevil Season 1, a power vacuum has occurred leaving Hell’s Kitchen open for a vigilante killing spree by The Punisher.

Seeing how today is 8/8 (August 8th), the official Sense8 Twitter account revealed the following videos confirming Season 2.

Minority Report TV Series Goes PC: Changes Washington Redskins Name

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21639:]]

Well, I was looking foward to Fox’s new Minority Report TV series — that was until they went all PC and changed the name of the Washington Redskins.

Deadline reports the creators behind the Minority Report TV series, which takes place in the year 2065, changed the name of the Washington Redskins to Washington Red Clouds.

Deadline, owned by some rich white guy from NYC, even adds a little spin, like they often do, by referring to the term “Redskins” as a “slur,” which isn’t the case.

Recently in my home town, they changed the name of the high school that had the Redskins as its mascot. The school board even brought in out-of-towners and set up fixed interviews so that the pro-Redskins’ opinions wouldn’t matter (lol). Well, that didn’t work as we recently voted out two anti-Redskin board members in favor of pro-Redskin people. Get this, too: The two new pro-Redskin board members are female, so now what is the PC-police going to do (lol)?

Regarding “Redskins” as a “slur,” I actually spoke to a full-blooded Indian from Arizona that now lives in my home town and has children that go to school with my own. He’s totally for “Redskin” and feels proud by the name. The Indians also name their businesses after “Redskin” and even their schools.

Enough of the PC BS, please (ditto with Disney, Marvel, WB and DC).

Oh, yeah. Regarding “Red Cloud,” he was actually an Indian chief that was one of the U.S. armies fiercest opponents and responsible for one of the largest number of U.S. casualties, around 200, in the Red Cloud War.

As was previously mentioned, the potential live-action X-Men series is currently being written by the Star Trek Beyond writing team of Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne; 24‘s Evan Katz and Manny Coto will serve as showrunners.

While Fox does own the movie rights to X-Men, Marvel and Disney would need to sign off on the deal for an X-Men TV series, with Walden noting the characters featured in the live-action X-Men series would be the characters exclusive to Fox.

“The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature side so we won’t be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney,” Walden said. “This will be exclusively the franchise as it has existed at Fox.”

It’s further reported that Walden said their intent is for the X-Men series to be “long-running,” and not short term.
