Peter Capaldi Not Leaving Doctor Who

It sounds like Peter Capaldi won’t be regenerating in Doctor Who Series 10 and may be on board for the long haul.

The BBC recently announced that showrunner Stephen Moffat is leaving Doctor Who, with it been rumored Peter Capaldi would be replaced.

Now Stephen Moffat offers he hasn’t heard anything about Peter Capaldi leaving Doctor Who any time soon.

“I have no reason to suppose that I’m writing out a Doctor,” Moffat told Doctor Who Magazine, reports Den of Geek“Peter is loving the role, and long may he do so.”

Moffat also went on to state that just because he’s leaving Doctor Who, that it doesn’t mean he will get a last hurrah.

“The departure of a showrunner doesn’t mean anything to the audience,” Moffat explained. “Most of the audience doesn’t know that I exist, so they’d go blank if I attempted to wave goodbye to them. Oh, the embarrassment that would be. So I’m damned if I’m imposing my departure on the show. I just want to do a good one, before I hand over to Chris [Chibnall].”

Doctor Who Series 10 recently began filming and won’t premiere until 2017.

Check out the trailer below for the new SyFy series Van Helsing starring True Blood‘s Kelly Overton as Vanessa Van Helsing, which sees her having powers that include being not only immune to vampires, but with the ability to turn a vampire human.

Obviously this makes Vanessa Van Helsing a big target of the vampires.

Watch: How The CW Batman Could Connect To Gotham

About two weeks ago saw a rumor hit the net stating that Batman might be coming to The CW DC TV universe.

It’s speculated that WB has lifted their mandate on not sharing movie and TV characters due to Geoff Johns getting promoted to President of DC Entertainment, which may be the reason Superman is now a part of Supergirl.

If you think about it, it makes sense for WB to use the same characters across both their movie and television universes as – the obvious –  they are popular. Just think if Marvel also had a live-action Spider-Man TV show? Cha-Ching. And we see how successful The Flash TV series is, right?

That said, if Batman does show up on The CW, how are they going to incorporate the Caped Crusader into their universe?

The previous rumor made mention that Fox currently owns the Batman TV rights, which is tied up with Gotham. It’s said that Fox may share Batman for some sort of fee enabling The CW to use the Dark Knight; so if it does happen, it may make sense to connect The CW version of Batman to Fox’s Gotham.

Check out the video below by TheMrDarkPhoenix on YouTube suggesting just that — that The CW Batman is the same person as the Bruce Wayne from Gotham.

The Dark Phoenix also recommends Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles as The CW Batman, which might not be another bad choice.

More To The Flash Season 3 Than Flashpoint Says Grant Gustin

The Season 2 finale of The Flash saw Barry go back in time to save his mother which will impact Season 3 as the timeline has been altered.

The title of the first episode of Season 3 is “Flashpoint,” which fans will recognize as the similar DC Comics storyline.

Talking at Comic-Con with Kevin Smith and IMDb, Grant Gustin reveals why Barry went back in time.

“People were like, ‘Why did he do that?’ And I think that he wasn’t going to do that, but I think that sitting on that porch, having just defeated Zoom, Iris says to Barry what he’s always wanted to hear, and he feels empty inside,” explained Gustin. “That was the moment… As selfish as it was that Barry wanted his parents, I think it’s more about ‘these two speedsters took away their life because of me and they deserve to have a chance at life. I can’t do this, I need to give them that chance.'”

Supergirl has also come over to The CW for its Season 2, and Kevin Smith asked The Flash cast if any of the first few Season 3 scripts have mentioned Kara Danvers. Gustin says the scripts haven’t and offers The Flash Season 3 isn’t totally about Flashpoint (note: The CW announced a mega DC TV crossover which will feature Supergirl).

“Not yet,” Gustin responded when asked if a Supergirl storyline was involved in the first few Flash Season 3 scripts. “It’s pretty Flashpoint focused right now, which I think we are going to see the repercussions coming out of Flashpoint. There will be ramifications all season long from Flashpoint.”

Smith then asks if it’s an all-season Flashpoint.

“I think we can state Flashpoint does not last all season long,” Gustin said. “But there are permanent ramifications.”

“The Flash” Season 3 premiers Tuesday, October 4th also starring Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Keiynan Lonsdale and Tom Felton.

Game Of Thrones Season 8 Will Be The Last

Winter is almost over.

HBO as announced there are only two more seasons of Game of Thrones, which will end with Season 8.

Game of Thrones Season 6 recently ended and went out with a literal bang.

On top of that, HBO also previously announced Game Of Thrones Season 7 will be delayed and won’t premier until Summer 2017 and will feature only seven episodes. Normally HBO debuts new seasons of Game of Thrones in April with ten episodes. The reason for the Season 7 delay is due to the filmmakers wanting the outdoor scenes to more closely resemble the arrival of winter in the series.

Regarding the end of the Game of Thrones series, HBO programming president Casey Bloys confirmed the news to EW.com.

“Yes, they have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do,” Bloys said at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills on Saturday. “Believe me, as the new [programming executive] coming in, if I could get them to do more. I would take 10 more seasons. But we take their lead on what they think they can do the best version of the show.”

It’s also possible that Game of Thrones Season 8 may have a shortened schedule as well, with eight episodes, though it’s noted the number of episodes is still being decided upon.

“Game Of Thrones” stars Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister.

First Look At Tyler Hoechlin As Superman In Supergirl Season 2

Check out our first look at Tyler Hoechlin as Superman for Supergirl Season 2.

The image shows Tyler Hoechlin as the Man of Steel paired with his cousin, Kara Danvers, played by Melissa Benoist.

I know as of this past weekend’s Comic-Con that Tyler Hoechlin hadn’t tried on the Superman costume for Supergirl, so this may be more or less a promo shot. I guess it’s possible Hoechlin may have tested the Superman costume within the past few days and hence the picture.

Hoechlin also teased the Superman curl at the SDCC Supergirl panel for the crowd, which we don’t see in this pic as well.

Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman costume looks similar to the design of Supergirl’s, and we see that, similar to the Henry Cavill costume, it’s missing the classic red trunks.

New Walking Dead Season 7 Preview Images

This week’s issue of EW has a featured cover and article on The Walking Dead Season 7.

Check out new preview images released for the upcoming season as well as the recent The Walking Dead Season  7 Comic-Con trailer.

The Walking Dead returns in October to AMC starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs, Michael Cudlitz, Sonequa Martin-Green, Christian Serratos, Ross Marquand, Josh McDermitt.

A man who likes to be referred to as a king and carries around both a scepter and a pet tiger named Shiva? Let’s just say Ezekiel — who runs a new community known as the Kingdom — is a tad eccentric. But he will play a key role moving forward.

While most of the current focus is on Negan’s reign of terror, zombies are still not to be trifled with. Executive producer Greg Nicotero promises he’s got some tricks up his sleeve in terms of season 7 walkers, one of which you can see here.

Negan in Alexandria? That can’t be good news for the survivors when Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character shows up to take inventory of a community now under his control.

The Hilltop gave Alexandria food and supplies in exchange for getting rid of Negan. So what happens now? Jesus (Tom Payne) may have his hands full dealing with a leader in Gregory who is not really fit to lead.

Carol (Melissa McBride) was pretty much ready to call it quits when Morgan found and saved her from the Savior at the end of season 6. She will also be headed to the Kingdom in season 7, and considering her no-nonsense attitude, what will Carol make of Ezekiel?

Morgan (Lennie James) will make his way to the Kingdom this year, where he will meet the quirky King Ezekiel (Khary Payton). But the big arc for Morgan in season 7 revolves around one simple question: How will the man with the no-kill policy react now that he has killed someone?

Daredevil Season 3, Punisher & Jessica Jones Season 2 Arriving In 2018

For fans of the Marvel Netflix shows, Daredevil and Jessica Jones, you are going to have to wait a bit for new episodes as it’s learned Daredevil Season 3 and Jessica Jones Season 2 will be arriving in 2018 along with the Jon Bernthal Punisher series.

Update: Netflix has updated their queue stating Punisher in 2017.

The good news is that while you wait, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Defenders will be filling the gap.

At the TCA press tour, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos revealed the Marvel Netflix series wouldn’t arrive on Netflix until at least 2018.

Sarandos also confirmed Luke Cage premiers September 30th, and that both Iron Fist and Defenders debut on Netflix in 2017.

The new keeps with Netflix’s schedule of airing two Marvel series per year, which may mean Punisher may not hit until 2019 or that Netflix may break from doing two Marvel series and go with three.

It’s also reported that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher may turn up in Defenders. Bernthal also appeared at Comic-Con during the recent Marvel TV Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Defenders panel.

Netflix Not Picking Up Agent Carter: Here’s Why

With Marvel TV already having five series on Netflix (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Defenders), and with ABC recently cancelling Agent Carter, some have thought it a good idea that Agent Carter could be renewed over at Netflix.

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos explained to EW.com why Agent Carter won’t be coming to their streaming service.

“We’re looking for truly original brands to own,” Sarandos said. “And in that Marvel space we already have [original comic book shows] – so that was mostly why.”

Sarandos also offered it’s about legal matters, such as distribution, than not liking the Agent Carter product.

“They also have some output deal complexities,” Sarando added. “So when you pick it up, being able to pick it up globally is difficult even after it’s canceled. Some of those output partners still had it on the air, so they would argue its covered by their output [deals]. Unfortunately, it was a business decision more than a creative one.”

While ABC did cancel Agent Carter, the good news is that if you are a Hayley Atwell fan, she can still be seen on ABC in her new series, Conviction.

Geoff Johns Promoted To President Of DC Entertainment

Update: It’s confirmed.

It’s being said Geoff Johns has been promoted to President of DC Entertainment, though Warner Bros. has yet to make an official announcement.

Johns, known for writing for DC Comics as well as being the DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer, recently received new duties following Batman Vs. Superman.

It’s known Geoff Johns is working with WB film exec Jon Berg on the Justice League movies, so the promotion makes a lot of sense. Johns is also involved with DC TV and remains involved with DC Comics.

According to Bleeding Cool, Geoff Johns is both DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer and President, and still reports to Diane Nelson (who is also President of DC Entertainment). Dan DiDio and Jim Lee, DC Entertainment Co-Publishers, continue report to Diane Nelson as well.

It’s said the promotion happened because of the Batman Vs. Superman “fallout,” and explains the different approach the recent Justice League and Wonder Woman Comic-Con trailers took.

It’s recently become known that Geoff Johns also helped write the Wonder Woman movie script and wrote a treatment for Aquaman with director James Wan as well. Johns is also writing The Batman with Ben Affleck.

I’m sure someone will bring up the fact that Geoff Johns “executive produced” the Green Lantern flop; however, his role could have been more or less as a consultant. There’s also the fact that the writers of the Green Lantern movie, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, said not to blame themselves for the failure as their script was different than the final product. Reporters who took part in set visits even offered the storyboards they saw on the Green Lantern movie set (which looked cool) weren’t even a part of the finished movie (for whatever reason).

As I previously wrote, DC seems to be in good hands with Geoff Johns, unlike Marvel who is currently a house divided.

It’s also thought Geoff Johns is the reason why DC TV and the movies are now sharing characters played by different actors (Batman is now rumored for DC TV and Tyler Hoechlin will play Superman on Supergirl).

Watch: Exorcist TV Series Comic-Con Trailer

Fox released the trailer for their upcoming Exorcist TV series at Comic-Con, which will premiere this coming Fall.

Synopsis:

Widely regarded as the greatest horror movie ever made, “The Exorcist” broke box office records and terrified audiences around the world. Now, more than four decades after the Academy Award-nominated film, THE EXORCIST returns as a TV series.

Directed by Rupert Wyatt (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), THE EXORCIST is a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession. FATHER TOMAS ORTEGA (Alfonso Herrera, “Sense8,” “The Chosen”) is the new face of the Catholic Church: progressive, ambitious and compassionate. He runs a small but loyal parish in the suburbs of Chicago. He has no idea that his quiet life is about to change forever. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, another priest finds himself locked in a life-and-death struggle with evil. FATHER MARCUS BRENNAN (Ben Daniels, “Flesh and Bone,” “House of Cards”) is a modern-day Templar Knight, an orphan raised since childhood by the Vatican to wage war against its enemies. Father Marcus is everything Father Tomas is not: relentless, abrasive and utterly consumed by his sacred mission. Caught in the middle is the RANCE family, members of Tomas’ parish. On the surface, they’re a normal, suburban family, but all is not as it seems in this household. The patriarch, HENRY RANCE (guest star Alan Ruck, “Spin City,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”), is slowly but surely losing his mind. Eldest daughter KATHERINE (Brianne Howey, SCREAM QUEENS) has become a recluse who refuses to leave her room. Her younger sister, CASEY (Hannah Kasulka, “The Fosters”), thinks she’s hearing strange noises coming from inside the walls. And mother ANGELA (Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Geena Davis, “Commander in Chief,” “Thelma & Louise”) has been plagued by recurring nightmares, each more frightening than the last. Angela believes there is something in the house, a demonic presence, growing stronger by the day. Desperate, she begs Father Tomas for help, unwittingly setting the naïve young priest on a collision course with Father Marcus. Separately, each faces an insurmountable task, but together they become the only hope against an evil force that has been mobilizing for centuries.

No Agents Of SHIELD Marvel Netflix Crossover Going To Happen

With Marvel TV being responsible for Agents Of SHIELD as well as the Marvel Netflix shows, you would think a crossover could happen at some point (even DC managed Flash and Supergirl with two different networks).

However, outside a venue at Comic-Con, it’s learned a crossover isn’t going to happen any time soon, as apparently, there happens to be some corporate mumbo jumo at Marvel TV that’s not going to allow it.

The cast of Agents Of SHIELD is asked which Marvel character they would like to “chase after” in the below video with the mention of a crossover coming up in the discussion.

Clark Gregg talks about the possibility of Agent Coulson meeting Iron Fist offering he would love to see it happen, but due to red tape, it’s not.

Because it was one of my favorite comics as a teen, I would have said Daniel Rand, Iron Fist, but suddenly there’s a gigantic invisible force-field barrier called “Corporate Stuff,” unless who knows, maybe we will develop a weapon to break through that, and get me over to Netflix for a minute. I would like that. But if that barrier came down, then God knows I’d want to talk to Luke Cage. After seeing the footage… Oh, yeah. [Mike] Colter is a beast.

Maybe this shouldn’t be all that surprising as it’s already known the “Marvel” brand at Disney is rather divided. There’s Marvel Studios, who recently feueded with the TV/comics people over the movies and parted ways. Now we even see there is some sort of divide within Marvel TV? Perhaps the contract with Netflix and/or ABC states the characters can’t appear elsewhere?

I’m surprised Disney is actually letting this happen within Marvel — that everything is so divided — which is opposite what Warner Bros. and DC are doing (Geoff Johns is the glue that binds DC). Marvel Studios also launched their own social networks and did away with their comic book opening for their movies, instead using film footage. Honestly, I can’t help but wonder if Marvel Studios will start to make more original stories (similar to Guardians of the Galaxy) and adapt less of the Marvel Comics, especially considering a lot of the comic book stories from the past 10-20 years were headed by the Marvel TV guys. With Marvel Studios being such a success (and TV/Comics no so much), I wouldn’t mind if Disney would bring everything at Marvel under Feige’s fold.

You know what they say about a house divided, right, Bob Iger?

Star Trek: Discovery TV Series Revealed At Comic-Con

Comic-Con saw Bryan Fuller reveal the title and a teaser for the new Star Trek: Discovery CBS digital TV series.

Not much info was given, but the series is set in continuity with the original Star Trek TV series and thought to precede Star Trek: The Next Generation at some point (possibly around Search for Spock).

Bryan Fuller did reveal they aren’t going the episodic route with Star Trek: Discovery (which saw William Shatner question), and that they are telling stories like a novel, with each season a chapter. Basically what that means is you need to watch all the episodes to get the entire story, which Shatner pointed out; however, Fuller countered by stating all the episodes will be right at your fingertips on digital.

Star Trek: Discovery will debut on CBS in January 2017 prior to airing on CBS All Access.
