Taika Waititi's 'Time Bandits' Canceled After One Season At Apple+

In what should come as no surprise, the Taika Waititi Time Bandits reboot series at Apple TV+ has been canceled after one season.

The news comes one month after the series was released on the streaming service.

Apple TV+ also turned off comments on the Time Bandits trailer, which has a ratio of dislikes to likes of more than 3 to 1, and is presently at 24k dislikes.

Cosmic Book News was also told by Comic-Con insiders, Lucasfilm is not moving forward with Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie.

We can also add the Rotten Tomatoes Score isn’t all that good from critics at 78%, and the fan score is only 48%.

The news of the series cancellation comes from the trades who report Apple TV+ has opted not to renew Taika Waititi’s Time Bandits for a second season.

It’s said the 10-episode first season didn’t attract a large enough audience to warrant a Season 2.

The reboot starred Friends actor Lisa Kudrow as Penelope, the leader of the ragtag group of thieves. Notably, the series has also ditched the use of the six dwarfs in favor of a diverse cast; however, the dwarfs play a different role which looks to be a lot less compared to the beloved original ’80s movie.

The trades also offer the Time Bandits series was expensive to make, which also added to Apple’s decision not to renew for Season 2.

We’ve heard this all before: A diverse cast with an expensive budget ends in immediate cancellation. Recently, Disney canceled the Star Wars series The Acolyte with a similar situation.

Time Bandits also starred Kal-El Tuck as Kevin, Tadhg Murphy as Alto, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva as Widgit, Kiera Thompson as Saffron, and Rune Temte as Bittelig. Taika Waititi also cast himself as what looks to be the “god” character.
