Star Trek: Discovery TV Series Revealed At Comic-Con

Comic-Con saw Bryan Fuller reveal the title and a teaser for the new Star Trek: Discovery CBS digital TV series.

Not much info was given, but the series is set in continuity with the original Star Trek TV series and thought to precede Star Trek: The Next Generation at some point (possibly around Search for Spock).

Bryan Fuller did reveal they aren’t going the episodic route with Star Trek: Discovery (which saw William Shatner question), and that they are telling stories like a novel, with each season a chapter. Basically what that means is you need to watch all the episodes to get the entire story, which Shatner pointed out; however, Fuller countered by stating all the episodes will be right at your fingertips on digital.

Star Trek: Discovery will debut on CBS in January 2017 prior to airing on CBS All Access.

Laetitia Garriott de Cayeux is co-founder of Escape Dynamics, a technology company which has greatly advanced the state of the art in beamed energy propulsion for space launch and was featured on the cover of Aviation Week, and in Scientific American as a “World Changing Idea” that could enable microwave-powered single-stage to orbit spaceplanes and aircraft-like operations to orbit.

Watch: A Christmas Horror Story Trailer

Check out the trailer above for A Christmas Horror Story, which stars William Shatner.

The film is playing in the UK and select theaters and film festivals.

Synopsis:

A teenage virgin is possessed by a ghost, an evil spirit inhabits the body of a young boy, and Santa murders elves: it must be a Christmas Horror Story!

Myths of all sorts come to life is this festive take on anthology horror by the directors of the cult horror classic GINGER SNAPS films.

We’re introduced to the cast of victims and villains on Christmas Eve. When one family accidentally unleashes an evil spirit while visiting an estranged aunt, frightful things begin happening across the small town of Bailey Downs.

A group of teenagers are unable to escape the abandoned school they are exploring and must deal with an angry ghost who has possessed the virgin in the group; a couple deals with the consequences of cutting down a Christmas tree in the woods when it becomes clear that their child has been possessed by a demon; and a long-haired Santa must use an ax to fight off his elves who have suddenly become flesh-eating living dead.

With eggnog and a bottle of hard liquor in hand, William Shatner takes over the airwaves of the town (think radio personality Grant Mazzy in Bruce McDonald’s 2008 psychological thriller PONTYPOOL), weaving the events of the evening together until we reach the terrifying conclusion.

Now Constantine Said To Be Not Cancelled

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20058:]]

Earlier saw a report stating NBC had confirmed the cancellation of Constantine.

Now, however, it’s being said that Constantine is not cancelled.

Showrunner Daniel Cerone has taken to Twitter to offer the news of Constantine getting cancelled is just a rumor.

William Shatner, a fan of the series, has even chimed in that he read Constantine is not cancelled as well.

Cerone previously tweeted he would like Shatner to be a part of Season 2, and Cerone also previously stated he will be pitching the second season to NBC later this month.

So with Cerone stating that Constantine is not yet cancelled, at least there is hope for a second season, which we should be hearing whether or not is moving forward by next month.

So William Shatner Never Attended Leonard Nimoy’s Funeral After All

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19820:]]

Leonard Nimoy passed away last month, February 27th, due to complications from end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Nimoy played Spock for the Star Trek franchise.

The next day following Nimoy’s passing, William Shatner took to his Twitter account to post that he won’t be attending Leonard Nimoy’s funeral, but instead, would be attending a charity dinner.

The news saw some on the internet explode with outrage as they claimed Shatner was doing the wrong thing by attending an exclusive expensive dinner instead of paying respects to Nimoy’s legacy and family.

The Hollywood trade sites then reported that Shatner had arrived Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles, with the various articles spinning it like Shatner grabbed an earlier flight and would be attending Nimoy’s funeral.

However, that doesn’t appear to be the case as in a tribute on StarTrek.com, Shatner offers that he thinks Nimoy would have done the same thing, and that would be not attending a friend’s funeral to go to a upscale Red Cross dinner.

Shatner also didn’t attend the funeral of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.

The Red Cross had asked me some months ago to appear, and they built the evening around the celebrity appearance. Leonard died and, faced with that choice, I didn’t think anybody would notice one way or the other, quite frankly. But on Friday, when I was in Florida, I thought I’d better say something on Twitter. So I said, “I’m honoring the dead, but I’m celebrating the living by doing a good deed.” I didn’t think that anybody would notice. Well, everyone got into a debate. But to my mind there’s no debate. You and I right now are celebrating Leonard’s memory, but we’re not raising any money for people who are suffering. But in that case I could celebrate his memory and raise money. At that event, which was a 1,000-person dinner, I said, “I’d like to take a moment and remember Leonard and Maurice Hurley.” I didn’t know yet about Harve Bennett. So I had about 1,000 people think about Leonard and Maurice. To me there was no question about what I had to do.

And you’re assuming that Leonard would have understood and that he’d probably have done the same thing?

SHATNER: Absolutely. At least I hope he would have.

William Shatner Arrives In LA; Unconfirmed For Nimoy’s Funeral

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19441:]]

William Shatner previously tweeted he would be unable to attend the funeral of Leonard Nimoy, who passed away due to complications from end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Shatner let it be known he was going to a Red Cross charity ball on Saturday night instead of the funeral.

Now Shatner may have had a change of heart as it’s reported that William Shatner landed in Los Angeles around noon.

It’s unclear if Shatner arrived in time for Leonard Nimoy’s funeral or if that was just his normal landing time, which may have been after the funeral.

Twitter and social media sites have been ablaze with with comments from fans regarding Shatner’s decision (possibly) not to attend.

On one hand, Shatner claims Nimoy is like a brother to him, yet how many out there wouldn’t attend their brother’s funeral?

On the other hand, fans argue to leave Shatner alone and let him mourn in his own way (he didn’t attend Gene Roddenberry’s funeral, either).

Of course, there is the argument that Shatner could have just kept quiet through the whole thing and not turned it into a Twitter spectacle by announcing he wouldn’t be able to attend the funeral, but offering instead, to have a Twitter tribute to Nimoy.

Regardless what’s what, Shatner may have rectified the situation by attending the funeral of Leonard Nimoy, but again, it’s not yet confirmed that he has.

This is the cover to today’s edition of the NY Daily News:

Constantine Ratings Up; Possible Network Move & William Shatner Is A Fan

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18868:]]

Good news for fans of Constantine as yesterday’s episode saw a rise in ratings.

NBC released official stats stating Constantine had its most watched episode last night since the November 21st episode featuring Jim Corrigan and the Spectre.

Though Constantine saw a drop in ratings with last week’s episode, which was the first episode to debut at 8pm ET, yesterday’s rose by around 400,000 viewers.

Last night’s Constantine delivered 3.48 million viewers with a .9 rating, which is up from last week’s 3.06 million and .8 rating.

In addition, NBC announced that Constantine sees a substantial rise in viewers when 7-Day DVR/online-viewing is factored in as viewership rises by more than 1.8 million viewers overall from 3.4 million to 5.3 million.

NBC also stated the coveted 18-49 ratings demographic among advertisers has increased by 79% when time-shifting is factored in.

The bad news is that the long-term DVR/online viewing doesn’t seem to be a big factor with networks as the higher live-viewing numbers are more preferable because of the advertisements. Recently, NBC executives stated Constantine has a big viewership after it airs, but it’s live-viewing “is challenging,” when questioned about a potential for Season 2.

There may be some light at the end of the tunnel, though, as showrunner Daniel Cerone recently hinted Constantine could possibly move to another network. Cerone also tweeted he would like to do more episodes of Constantine, with specific mention of the Monkey King, who was named in last night’s episode. Cerone also added if they do get a Season 2, he would like William Shatner to appear in an episode.

Speaking of William Shatner, it’s also learned that the first Captain Kirk is a fan of Constantine, as Shatner live-tweeted last night’s episode, as did Cerone.

Constantine airs Fridays at 8pm ET on NBC starring Matt Ryan, Charles Halford, Angelica Celaya and Harold Perrineau.
